Can anyone give me a rough idea of how early we should queue up for Miyuki's candy artistry demonstration in the Japan pavillion? I understand that her show is very popular. :crowded: Thanks!

Depends on day and crowd flow. I've been there 10 minutes early before she comes on stage and still was towards the back. Other times no one else even shows up until she's well into it. I know she likes to give kids the candy creations. My friend went down 2 weeks ago and got her pink piggy. I warned her to keep it out of the heat and to be able to place into a container of some kind to protect it. It came back in one piece. To answer your question, 5 minutes is plenty of time. You could always hit another show that day if it's too crowded. Good luck.... :thumbsup2

We usually get there about 10-15 minutes before (we travel in September) she begins and are the first or second in line. :thumbsup2

During busy times, we've waited as early as 20 minutes before... we've done this twice, both during busy times. The first time, my girls were first... the second time it was just my son and although we were first waiting, we didn't get "picked" for a creation until around 6 other kids had gone. So it really doesn't matter if you are first "in line" it's whoever she picks.

This one guy who was standing with his son almost behind her on the side really got upset because when I was standing there he came up and asked how the line went, I told him there really wasn't a line and he says well you are first, they (another group) are second and we are third. Well after the 4th or 5th kid had gone, he started yelling "hey there is a line here, WTH" basically to me and I tell him the same thing I told him when he first approached me, she chooses, there isn't a line. Miyuki tells him the same thing, smiles at me and tells me my son is next... LoL. I don't think the guy ever got one for his kid.

I know she does not "perform" every day, but does anyone know what days she might be there? We will be at Epcot just one day of trip later this month (Fri 10/20) is there any chance she will be there that day?

Thanks Y'All

We went the last week in August and while it appeared we were "second in line" it turned out we never got one that time. She had others come back from the previous show. We were told come back in 20 minutes for next show and than DD was picked 2nd. I saw others confused when we went to the 2nd show as the first people there were really number 6 or 7 because of the people she had from the last show.

Hope that made sense

We were there last week and we showed up 15 minutes before the show and were the only ones waiting. When she showed up and started setting up, some people started to gather around, but there wasn't really a crowd until about 5 minutes into her presentation.

My kids were the first two picked and were standing front and center.

TIP: We went to the shop right behind the area where she performs and asked for a bag to put the candy in.....they gave us boxes that are the perfect size to put them in and wrapped them in tissue paper. No charge. I highly recommend doing this.

Enjoy! She was amazing.

I'd say 15-20 minutes depending on the crowd levels. In August this year we went to a second show and both my kids got one. My son was the second child picked and my daughter was the last. There were quite a few in between them. She really is amazing.

Thanks, everyone!

I guess I'm really more interested in seeing her work up-close rather than getting my kids picked for a candy sculpture...just one more thing to carry around! :rotfl:

In early May we got to her stand 15 minutes before and we were the only ones there. We got a spot front and center.

And let me tell you...your kids are GOING TO WANT ONE OF HER SCULPTURES!

My 11 year old niece was absolutely mesmorized and she STILL has her pig. I swear it was the highlight of the trip for her. Wish I'd known about the box they give you in the shop.

If you do get picked, try to have the kid's ask for an unusual animal. My niece's pig was very cool, but the dragons she did were really amazing and so was the unicorn.

This was the only place where I did not "feel the magic" on our last trip. I had learned about Miyuki here on the DIS & got there 20 minutes before her performance. There was only one other family there when we arrived. Once she started, the area filled up fast. Some very pushy pre-teens and their very pushy mothers crowded in front of us and kept passing the list of animals around among themselves. They were yelling out what they wanted. I was surprised that Miyuki allowed this type of chaos. My children, who have been taught to patiently wait their turns, did not get one. They didn't cry or pitch a fit, but they were a bit disappointed. I was ticked, but I didn't say anything. It just blows my mind, though, how some think the world (or the "World") owes them everything simply because they've graced us all with their presence.

We leave in 2 days (YEA!!) to go back to the World. If we happen to be in Japan in time for Miyuki's performance, we'll go. But I am not going to plan for it like I did last time.

My kids each got one of her beautiful creations for the second time this past August. I am never worried about getting them home. My DH takes pictures of them, and then my kids eat them. Yes, they eat them. She wants them to be eaten. She told us that on a trip 2 years ago. It is a honor when you eat them. She got such a kick out of watching my then 3 year old blue and sticky from eating his lolly! She is a wonderful person, and her creations are awesome!
