A lot of people have written in to say that they think the waiter service goes down as soon as the waiter hears they are on DDP. We went last year with a party of 6 an with the exception of Wolf Gang Puck we had excellent service. I do think one of the reasons were that as soon as we sat down the waiter asked if we were on the DDP. We also answered yes and then they asked us if we could have everything put together on one bill and we said yes. It was quite painless. We always made sure when we got the bill or receipt that we had the right amount of credits left and we were good to go.
I think the waiters appreciate not having to do everyone separate and some being on it or not. Even though everyone can't do this I do believe it made it easier for the waiters. . probably won't be out of the restaurant so fast this year because we will be waiting to leave the tip. Haven't decided how we will do that but will be reading future posts to get tips. Concerned about writing the tip down and getting double charged some how.

On the DDP each of the last 2 years and the Wait staff was great no complaints at any restaurant.

we only had a prob once in a number of times (pre-2008:rolleyes1 ) using the DDP. waiter was at alfredo's & extremelly snooty. we eventually noticed that it was not so much the DDP, but the fact that we weren't ordering any alcohol that got the waiter miffed (guess he figured no extra tip):sad2:
our non-alcoholic drinks were left empty, dishes not cleared, etc. we wound up asking a "runner" for refills, bread, etc. btw, we made sure to slip the "runner" some cash on our way out, ensuring it was in full view of the waiter (the look on the waiter's face was priceless ~ even if they do "share", we made it clear he would have gotten that extra gratuity had he only made the effort :thumbsup2 )
on a side note, we recently had the same waiter at tutto italia (where alfredos used to be) during their soft opening". his demeanor & service had changed signicantly for the better ~ i only hope that it was not due to having "suits" all over the restaurant ;)

We had excellent service at Wolfgang Puck also in summer of 2006. We were on the DDP. Tip was included but we added cash on the table. I hope service is just as good now that the servers are not guaranteed 18%, they have to wait and see. If they are good servers they will give excellent service otherwise the tip will reflect what they deserve.
