Wait times for Exp Everest during evening EMH?

Our party consists of two adults and a four year old, and we'll be at Disney during a fairly low crowd time (mid Dec).

We're not into the parent-swap idea, it seems cruel and unfair to take her all the way to Disney and make her wait around while we ride stuff she can't. We're totally fine with just skipping the rides she can't do.

However, we've never gotten to experience Everest and it could be years before we have another opportunity, so we did want to try this one out. We're only doing one day at AK, and it's an evening EMH day. We're not going to arrive at opening time, because the previous night is MVMCP and we're letting the little one sleep in the next morning!!

So I know the best time for Everest is early in the morning, but since we aren't there during that time, I was wondering what the lines are like for it during EMH. There are no fastpasses given during that time, correct?

The 4 yr old LOVED the Boneyard last time we went and would have stayed there all day if we would have let her, so we were thinking that one of us could sit with her at the Boneyard while the other heads over to Everest and rides, and then comes back to watch her continue playing at the Boneyard while the first goes to ride Everest. However, if the lines during EMH are LOOOONG we'll have to rethink our plan...

So my question is this -- has anyone been to evening EMH at Animal Kingdom during the low/moderate crowd times this fall who could give us an idea of what the lines for EE are like after the park closes to regular guests?

Thanks!!

I was there the first week in Sept. and we rode EE three times in a row.The wait was as long as it took us to exit the vehicle and walk through the queue again to get behind maybe 10 people ahead of us. This was during the EMH evening.

When we were there on October 5, at about 11:00 am, the wait time was listed as 50 minutes. We got fast passes thinking this will be the only way to get on again that day because the line was sure to only get longer, then we got in line. We were through the queu on the ride in literally 15 minutes. The same thing happened later that afternoon at about 3:00 when we rode with some friends. They didn't want to go because it said 40 minute wait. We talked them into it, and we were done with the ride in 15 minutes. It almost seems that the child swap thing might be the most time efficient method to ride this and keep the family together and minimize time apart.

Don't forget that EE has a single rider line also. Very quick way to get on even with a long stand by que.

EE also has a single rider line that you can usually zip through pretty quickly. Between that and the EMH you should be able to get it done.

edited to add: LOL, I guess great minds think alike, Amy :)

Great info! I was wondering the same thing, as we plan on doing the evening magic hour at AK during our trip. :cool1:

When we were there the last week in Sept. I found a lot of the posted ride times were WAY off. For instance, Mission:Space posted 10 minutes for orange, 30 min for green we walked all the way in and there were only 4 people in front of us for the green. A few more were waiting on the orange side. True wait time, 5 min.

Same thing for EE, posted time was 40 min, we waited maybe 20, could have been closer to 15. This was middle of the day, 1:30.

At Tomorrowland Speedway they asked one of my sons to carry a card to check the wait time, but we walked back by it about 10 minutes later and they had never adjusted the wait time.

Thanks everyone -- the wait time thing must be frustrating -- I'd avoid the ride with a wait that long and if they left that posted might never end up doing it!! But if you aren't familiar with the ride queues you have no way of knowing just by ducking in whether the wait time is real or not because it's so hard to know just how quickly it's loading and how much further it is until you really got on a ride in so many of them... Hope they get that fixed!!

I find that the posted wait times for EMH are very unreliable. Many times we've seen waits at 60-90 minutes and it only took about 15-20. On the other hand, I've seen times posted at 20 that ended up taking an hour. I'm not sure why this seems to happen during EMH. Maybe the flow is just harder to judge? Last spring we got in line for Soarin' and it said 50 minutes. After waiting over an hour we hadn't even gone half way yet. So we left the line. Other rides we were able to ride multiple times with no wait. It's strange. I normally avoid really popular rides during EMH.... which seems to defeat the whole purpose. For example, at Epcot EMH we did Spaceship Earth, The Land, Journey into Imagination, and Crush. The wait times for Soarin' and Test Track were HUGE so we didn't even try them.
