Wait times at HS are insane 7/28/21

Hey all. The wait times at HS today are so bad I wish I hadn’t spent the money to go. We rode one ride at rope drop at that was it, everything was 60+ at that point.I’m grateful we come often enough that we have done most everything, but leaving and watching hoards of people still streaming in made me really feel for the once in a lifetime or once in a few years people.

Im sorry but this park does not absorb people well and even though the 50th will be all about the MK, I don’t think I’ll dare come her

I don’t miss fast passes at any other park but this one which is so crazy because I hated the fast pass options/structure at this park the most.

No reason to rope drop HS anymore. Go into the park later and hit the big rides at night. Less lines and chaos. Last time, I went to Tower of Terror and Rocking Rollercoaster the first week of December about an hour before park closing -- 10 minute wait for ToT and about the same for Rocking. I rode Rockin' again right after with a 5 minutes wait. We also rode Star Tours two hour prior with zero wait. I heard Slinky Dog and Mickey lines were short after 6 PM. I wouldn't rush over there for rope drop these days.

We thought HS seemed the most crowded of the 4 parks on our last trip. Part of the problem was not having Indiana Jones and Little Mermaid open as they hold a lot of people and keep them out of the walkways and other lines. And Frozen Sing along was only partially filled. Without them, thats a lot more people wondering around.
Haven't read anything about any plans to reopen Mermaid, but rumors of it permanently closed.

Some wait times are grossly inflated. The Lines app is showing MMRR actual wait is currently about half the posted wait. But then others like MFSR and TSMM are pretty much spot on. I have agree that unless grabbing a RotR boarding pass is Priority #1, heading to HS later in the day is a better move.

I was in HS a couple of weeks ago with my kids (ages 3 and 5). Due to their ages, we don't do long waits. I wasn't able to get a boarding group for ROTR which was disappointing, but we did it last year. I also did MMRR last year. We did TSMM at rope drop and waited 5 minutes. Then we headed over to Star Tours, which had a 15 minute posted wait time, but it was basically a walk on. We did the Disney Jr show, Muppets, and walked through One Man's Dream. My husband and older son did Savi's workshop and then we had lunch before heading back to the resort for a break. In the evening we went back for dinner and did the Frozen show. It was a good day overall, but we missed a TON. Without FP, as others have said, the waits for everything else were over an hour and we weren't willing to do that, especially being that some of the lines are in the hot sun. I go to Disney every year, so not a huge deal for us. I really miss FP. Until it's back or something else replaces it, it's impossible to hit all the "big ticket" rides unless you will be there many days.

I feel the only two options to help with long wait times would be to either open a 5th gate, which most likely will never happen, or bring back the fast pass system. I do believe that fast passes will be coming back. I just hope and pray it is not the pay model that is currently being used in Disney Land Paris. I'm sure when it comes back there will be a price tag associated with it. But I just don't like the "pay per ride" system. I would rather pay one lump sum and not be limited.

Totally agree they need Fast Pass to return!! And most likely Disney will put some kind of price tag on it... whether it is a new tier for tickets (add on like the hopper) or pay per day.... Also hope it is NOT a pay per ride... that will be a nightmare!
The Max Pass at Disneyland worked well for us in 2019, but not sure how that would work at WDW with 4 parks?

But they need to bring back Fast Pass!!!

I'd pay 100 bucks extra per day for unlimited FP that hopped. It would have to come with a 20 dollar voucher for alcohol however.

I suspect a paid system is coming and while I doubt it will be the "pay per ride" that we are seeing in Paris, I do expect it to be very costly. I don't see anyway they bring in a paid system at a low or even reasonable price. If so, everyone buys it and you are potentially worse off than you were before with 3 free FP to all comers. They also can't do an unlimited access pass like Universal does for deluxe resort guests as the numbers of those people are just too big to support that with the limited number of attractions. My suspicion is that there are maybe fewer free FP offered and those only to on-site guests and then any subsequent FP (or FP for off-site guests) are available at an add on cost. I do think that price will be quite high though.

We just returned from Disney on Saturday. Unless the app was lying (possible) the lines did not get shorter at the end of the day. We stayed late one day and it was still packed. We had good luck being there at rope drop, like one of the first ones in line. Got on FOP, then walked on Safari and Expedition Everest. There was quite a bit of luck involved I think, and things seem to change every day. What worked last week might not work this week. Must be very frustrating. I felt that way about MK.

What Lines app are you referencing? I'm just wondering if there's an app I should get that is more reliable. All I have right now is the wait times list on the Disney World App.

Touring plans lines app and I agree it is more accurate.

If they priced that at $100 (minus the beer haha) everyone would buy it and then nobody would really have it.

Expect the pricing for paid FP to be ridiculous. It has to be to prevent everyone from buying it.

When you do the math, a Disney unlimited FP would have to cost something like at least $500 per person, per day, for their highly lucrative VIP tour business not to be destroyed. Which is why they will almost certainly never offer such a product.

YouTube vloggers aren't going to pay even a hundred a day for FP. Those are the only people going to Disney right now.

Your price point is a little low.
Disneyland Paris had an unlimited FastPass option for two parks (no beer though) and it was over $300.00.

Why not? We just returned using unlimited express pass and it was my first time. I think the volume of guests who would qualify for its use is too large at Disney thus making the lines for express too long and standby impossible. I looked up on Touring Plans and the deluxe resorts at Universal that qualify for express pass are 2400 rooms (assuming I added correctly). At WDW, the number of deluxe hotel and DVC rooms is 9,684 rooms - 4 times as many rooms. If you also allowed people to buy this express pass on top of that - like Universal does, it just seems like it would be too many for the parks to manage. At least that's what I've always assumed for why it wouldn't work there. While I know WDW also has more attractions than Universal, I don't think they have 4 times as many. Universal limits it to just those deluxe guests and they also limit the number of them for sale to be sure the express lines don't get too long. I could be wrong, of course, I'm just speculating for why it wouldn't work.
