Wait listed What are my chances

For those of you who have wait listed or have had friends wait listed I am wondering what my chances are. DH and I have a 1 br already book at OKW for OCt 17- 25. My aunt and uncle and cousin are coming down to stay with us at the same time. This all came up just recently. I called MS to see if a studio was available at OKW for the same time. Some days were and some not. So I wait listed for the studio. I also waitlisted for a 2br dedicated at OKW and a 2br dedicated at SSR as well as wait listing for a lockoff at SSR. Can anyone give me an idea of what my chances are of getting any of the above rooms that I wait listed for. If so can anyone tell me which one is most likely to come available. I did check at BWV, BCV and they were totally booked.

I am hoping someone can give me some positive news as this has me a nervous wreck.

Thats a tricky time with all the festivities, have a back up plan .... Is changing the dates an option for you?

I was waitlisted for around the same time....we waited about 3 months with no word. we have since changed our dates due to other reasons.....

I wish you the best of luck....the DVC can get crazy for last minute trips.

My guess would be both SSR and OKW will come through ok for you. I would say though figure out what you really want and book each day that is available. it is easier to get a single day come through on a wait list then a whole week. I am doing 5 days in a studio and 5 days in a 2 bedroom at BCV from Oct 10-20 I started with 4 days missing, I booked all but the 4 days and wait listed each of the 4 days seperately. Currently the only day I am waiting for is October 19th......all the rest came through. BUT if I had put the WHOLE time on one wait list.........I would still be waiting.

Not at all the same time, but DH and I decided last Thursday to get to FL for the July 1 shuttle launch. I called MS on Friday and not a single studio was available anywhere. I played what I call 'Studio Roulette" and waitlisted any studio anywhere. I also used automatic confirmation. Later on Friday the dvcmember site showed a reservation for BWV for one night, and on Monday, I had a choice of preferred or Boardwalk view for the second night! (I took the BW view, DH has never seen it). It's such a busy time, and it worked out for us. I hope you get pixie dust too for your time in WDW.

It does help that you have more than one type of room at one specific resort that you're willing to take.

July 4th last year, my brother told me he wanted to take his family when DD and I went for Thanksgiving. We got 3 nights in an OKW GV and waitlisted the another two. Since we were very specific about both our room type and resort our chances were pretty slim. We never did get those two nights... but it worked out. We went to CBR and my brother got to see another type of resort on WDW property.

I was thinking about going for 19th-23rd...tried all resorts for studio and 19th and 21st sold out at all.

Besides MNSSHP on the 19th and 20th, it's Funai Classic weekend...and Food and Wine Festival...etc etc etc

Good luck.

We gave up and decided we were doing enough Disney this year and would try for MNSSHP next year if we had enough points and could get a ressie.

I am on the waiting list for December for a 2bdrm. You mention above looking on the DVC site and seeing the reservation for BWV for one night. Where exactly do you look for that information? Thanks. This is my first experience with the wait list.

Gosh I am wondering if I shouldnt' wait list for each day like WDWCPALUMNI indicated. The only problem is that DH and I have a one bedroom already booked at OKW. We are going for sure as we have airlines bookes and all. If for some reason a 2br or the additonal studio would not come avaible then my aunt, uncle and cousin will stay off ground. I dont want to give up the for sure reservation that DH and I already have. If I wait listed for each day and none come available then DH and I are in trouble.


Dgaston----Where did you find that area that allows you do view what is available. I would like to know also.

Anyone have any ideas of what I could do in this situation?

Hey Wisbucky!

All I can tell you is that Oct. looks to be busy. I have a 2 bed at SSR that I booked months ago. I'm on the waitlist for a 2 bed at BCV but I haven't heard anything. There are a lot of members down because the member cruise is the 22nd. There are also some buildings that are still being built, maybe they'll be ready early. ( If they go offsite, the Hilton at DTD had the early entry)

Also if you have automatic confirmation, you can go to My DVC and then choose Points and then view activity detail to see your bookings.

Well, we rented some points in April for a studio at OKW in early Oct., and the owner was nice enough to waitlist us for a VWL studio for the same dates, and VWL just came through for us... so there is always hope, good luck

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful help. Everyone here is always so helpful.

After a lack of sleep for a night, nerves stretched to the max and way to much coffee I had my aunt, uncle and cousin book a hotel today outside of Disney as a back up for now. At least I feel better knowing that if all fails they will still be able to go to Disney.

As soon as we have the points transferred to our account from another member I think I will book the available studio days. Hopefully by wait listing for the others they will all come available.

As cherlyp3 said you can view your current reservations on the dvcmember site. Select "My DVC" and then you can expand the section labeled "Points." If you click on "View Vacation Details" about half way down the page, you will see a listing of your reservations.

This worked for me because I had chosen to waitlist each day separately, and also used automatic confirmation. So before I knew it, MS had found a studio for us one night.

I don't know how to look for what's available online, but believe some folks try www.disney.go.com That's CRO so I don't think it gives a good reflection of what MS has available. Whenever I get the satisfaction survey, I indicate I'd like online availability for booking.

Dgaston I did view our vacation details on the dvcmember website but I dont see where it inidates we are wait listed for any place. Should it be there?

Your waitlist does not display there ( I think ) Just that if you are under automatic waitlist and it gets filled, it shows up.

Our transferred points came through so I did what WDWCPAlumni did and booked the rooms that are currently availabe at OKW for a studio. I am missing the 19, 21 and 22. OH please oh please come through. I also found out that the beds at SSR and BWV are bolted to the floor with a wood frame all the way around. Those beds make those resorts impossible for my cousin to be at as the beds dont allow a lift under them. My cousin needs to transfer from an electric wheelchair to a bed by lift. I also wait listed for a 2br dedicated at OKW as well as a lockoff there to. I placed these on an automatic confirmation.

I am seeing some light at the end of the tunnel as the 18th of October was not available yesterday but was today.

Well everyone I waitlisted for the 19, 21, and 22 of October for the studio at OKW. The other dates I booked. Today the 21 and 22 came in. I was shocked. Then I asked about a lockoff to see how many dates off I was for a lockoff. The only date holding us back was the 19 as well. We are only one day off now from the entire booking for the studio. Someone out there must be sending us some pixie dust. Whoever you are THANKS A MILLION.

thats great, DW and i waitlisted last on the 16th for two studios for 11/26 thru 12/1 at OKW and they both came thru today. It pays to waitlist..

I am going to call MS today in hopes that maybe a lock off unit will have all but one day I need and I can transfer over to that and wait list for that one day. Or maybe the 19th will come available today? ANTICIPATION.........

Well as of today the one day we needed has not come in. We are all beginning to get bummed here. But I do know we have lots of time yet. I have called to see if maybe a 2br or a lockoff unit would be able for some of our stay and I would change our ressie to that but the dates basically are all gone. Im loosing that magical feeling I originally had. I keep looking at the dvcmember website to see if that one date came in. I am becoming attached to the computer.

I need a little pick me up!
