We have a ressie checking in on 11/12 and checking out on 11/19 and are currently waitlisted for the 7th thru the 11th. I know you can have two wait lists going, so I called MS today and asked to also wait list just for the night of the 11th, thinking I would have a better chance to start working backwards securing the nights one at time. MS said I couldn't do this, because I'm already waitlisted for the 11th on the first wait list.... I thought you could wait list for one night at a time??? This is my first time waitlisting so I'm a bit confused... Can someone help me?

That doesn't sound right. There is no stipulation beyond you can't have two wait lists at a time, not that you can't waitlist 2 different things for the same night. After all, many people might WL their entire vacation for one particular resort, and waitlist it again for another resort. I think the CM was confused and I would call back.

I don't think you are allowed to waitlist one night at a time anymore. Since you already have that night waitlisted at that resort, I think that is why they will not allow a duplicate.

I did this once, and I think it's a good idea. It may have to do with the fact that you can't have two reservations on the same night for the same person. Just give them the name of one of the other guests for the second wait list.

Is that right? At all? So if I was short one night of my vacation, I couldn't waitlist for it? I must have missed that in the new waitlisting restrictions.

What would be the reasoning behind that - I can't seem to figure out why that makes sense.

I wanted to be waitlisted for a total 3 days. One waitlist with Sunday and another waitlist for Monday and tuesday. They would not let me because they were consecutive days. I wanted the reservation whatever way I could get it. The waitlist system doesn't seem efficient or inthe best interest for those planning a vacation that is more than a few days.

You can do one night. What you can't do is for example, you want June 1 to 6. You can no longer setup the waitlist if any of the individual nights come through you get it. The entire stay has to become available. In the OP's case, they have the 7th to 11th waitlisted and they want to also waitlist just the night of the 11th at the same resort.

You used to be able to do that. Now they will only allow 1 waitlist for the 3 nights and all 3 have to come through.

When did THAT start? I don't understand the rule, and I don't see why my earlier strategy wouldn't work.

We are newer members, but I do remember reading (either the paperwork or maybe here on the disboards) that you can't waitlist one night at a time like DebbieB brought up.

Is this what you read, dacky04120?
All requests must represent the entire length of time desired in the requested accommodation type. Wait List requests must be for consecutive days of a stay and may not be submitted as multiple or “night-by- night” requests.

I found it in the HOME RESORT RULES AND REGULATIONS, document you can download from MS.

Yes, I think that's it. After I posted this morning, I thought it might have been on the dvc website. I went to try to find it but the website wasn't working earlier today.

Edit:
That might not have been it, I logged into the website and went to "Managing Reservations" --> "Wait List" info:

•Wait list requests for consecutive nights cannot be split into separate night-by-night requests.

but they say the same thing.
