Wait list qestion

When you get on a wait list, and it becomes available, do you have to call them to find this out, or do they call you?

Do people call every single day to avoid missing an opportunity to move from the waitlist to an actual reservation?

But it also seems that many, many people who are listed to be called, decide to call on their own and magically a room opens up for them. Quite a few people on these boards have described that happening. I would suggest calling every once in a while just to see how thing look.

I, too, wasn't all that sure how it all worked. So, after being on the wait list for the enormous time of 1 week, I called to see how I would know if it came thru. And, I was told they had added 2 more nights to my reservation!! I'm now waiting for that 1st night to come thru, but I have until mid-Nov. It does work. I would suggest calling every once in awhile to double check also.

Okay HBC.....I don't mean to put you on the spot, but as you are one of my FAVORITE sources of info...here goes.

Are you implying that the wait list doesn't always work like it should? So, when people call, there are "rooms" floating around in the system? I, too have read the same posts, and I assumed there was something I was "missing" in my understanding of those posts (something that happens a LOT in my life ).

I, once again, would appreciate your help in understanding this.

Thanks for the compliment Beca. I don't feel on the spot at all.

The wait list system is computer based. If something opens up that matches exactly what you need, it's a hit and you are in. When you call to make a reservation and talk to MS, they will often say, "let me put you on hold for a minute to see if there's anything I can do". They often come back with a room for you. How I have no idea?

All I'm saying is that it seems that MS has the ability to adjust things in such a way as to make things fit. I don't know how but I have experienced what I just described a couple of times (not from a wait list though). A computer can't do that. A person can. All I'm saying is that it doesn't hurt to talk to a person every once in a while to see if they can do anyting.
