Wait list/banking/borrowing question

Just waited on hold for member services for 30 minutes only to get cut off when I finally got through. Lol, perfect luck. I’m hoping somebody here can help me with this:

I’ve got a 4 day trip planned in Feb for a BC studio (March use year, using up most of our points) The second day is waitlist, the other 3 booked.

I’d like to bank the rest of my points that I won’t need, as I need some of them for a May trip (new borrowing rules are leaving me just short if I don’t bank some points).

If I knew I was going to get the waitlist, I’d obviously know what to bank. However, if I end up needing to book another resort for that night, I’d want to change the first night of the reservation to the new resort as well (to avoid moving twice on a 4 night stay). This won’t be an option until I get to my 7 month window. So I don’t know how many points to bank right now to leave the proper number of points for Feb.

Here’s what I’d like to know:
If I bank all of my extra points now to 2021 and borrow what I need from 2022, I can get the May reservation I need. When I get the Feb night sorted, can they shift points between reservations to make it work? Eg borrow some more 2022 points into the May reservation (still staying below the new 50% limit) then take the freed up 2021 points from that reservation and borrow them back to 2020 to fulfill the Feb reservation?

Hope that question made sense. I’m brand new at this and hoping not to waste too many points learning.

If I understand it correctly, then yes, you can do it.

However, if you have a waitlist in place, you can set it up to borrow points to fill it, which may be easy..unless you have already borrowed too many 2020 points back into 2019?

Unless you do that, you have to leave points to fill the waitlist. So, why not bank all but what you’d need for both the current night and however you’d need to change to a 2 night reservation if it does not come through

Also, to borrow, you can’t have any banked or current UY points, and can only borrow to complete the reservation.

Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it
