wagons in the parks.

can anyone tell me if they allow you to bring a wagon, for your kids to ride in, in the parks? we were going to rent strollers, in cse the kids got tired, but after doing the math it would be cheaper to buy a wagon to take with us. we are driving, so that is not a problem. i'm sure it might be a problem on the monorail. any info i could get would be appreciated.

I have seen wagons before, very few and far between, but they must be allowed. I wouldn't see why not.

I'm sure the someone else can confirm for sure but I think they are NOT allowed, I think nothing that you pull behind you is allowed (ie rolling cooler/backpack, etc). I'm sure someone else can let you know for sure.

This is what I have known to be true as well - no wagons or anything "pullable" rather than pushable.

Again, this is something that would be "policed" by the CMs at the turnstiles, so it is possible that people have gotten them into the parks!

They are not allowed. People have written to Disney before and the resoning for not allowing wagons (or anything you pull behind) is that you can't see anything you are pulling behind you, so you are not as aware of it. That makes it a potential hazard to other people.
It's possible that one or two make it in occasionally, but people have posted quite a few times that they saw wagons being confiscated either at the turnstiles or further into the park. (Wagons would not be allowed on the buses or monorails).
There is also a website that rents baby equipment. They rent wagons, but have a notice on their website that says wagons can't be used in the parks.

Not meaning to cause problems but in April, I did see rolling coolers at MK and a wagon at MGM. Actually wound up with the wagon people on the bus to POFQ later that night. The bus driver opened the back door and the guy picked the wagon up and put it in the back. :confused3

thank you everyone, for your post. this puts me in a delema, to rent or not to rent? that is the question. we are leaving in a week. we are staying for 12 days, most of our time will be spent in the parks. it will be my dw, dd-2 1/2,dn-6, dn-7, and myself. when we travel to the parks here in texas we always rent a double stroller for the boys, in case they get tired, and take dd's stroller. we have never stayed more than a week at a time. because this is such a speacial trip we want to enjoy as much as we can, but i can't see shelling out $300 for stroller rental. any suggestion?

I can tell from first hand experience that they will not let you bring a wagon. We were staying at Fort Wilderness and of course camping=wagon for us. We pulled that wagon all the way to the marina, onto the boat and when we got to the gate were told that our wagon was not allowed to pass. They would 'hold' our wagon for us at the rental station while we got a rental stroller.

Honestly the rental strollers are bigger and hold a heck of a lot of stuff. We usually always bring our stroller, but this time we're going to rent because we're not sure if 7 year old will want to be put into stroller or not, but she will definately fall asleep and I AM NOT CARRYING HER!!

Have you thought about buying a cheaper double stroller to take if you do not want to spend the money on renting? We went last year with our 2 year old and 6 year old and planned to rent a single for the 2 yo and ended up changing to a double because the little wouldn't ride unless the big was riding, too! ;) I loved renting, even though it cost more because we didn't have to haul it in and out of the bus. The downside is getting sleeping kiddos out of it. Anyway, I have seen some pretty cheap umbrella type strollers that might do for the trip and would be smaller to get into your vehicle.

You've got to get sleeping kids out of your own stroller before boarding buses too, and then balance with the sleeping kid and the stroller.

I've never seen a wagon in WDW, and I imagine it would be difficult to navigate through the more crowded areas (like at park closing), as the wagon would be behind you and you wouldn't be able to see/hear if your kids were OK.

We bought two $10 umbrella strollers from target for my then 2 & 3 year olds. Then, we bought a "connector" that can latch the two together so that it could become a side by side. We are going again this year and plan to use the same system.

we've seen rolling coolers (pulled), wagons and even one of those LIttle Tyke pink cars - we have one at home and I commented to DH about it when we saw it...

It is all who's at the gate, same deal with the food.

You can get a reclining double umbrella stroller for about $75. Also has a shade cover which is nice in the Florida sun. This would be a lot cheaper than renting at the parks.

Definitely rent a double. I thought about the umbrella strollers too, but they aren't big enough to fit older children. My DS8 was able to sit in the Disney double for a quick break when a place to sit wasn't available. DS4 and 5 were able to fit in easily without a problem. It is expensive, but if you get a length of stay ticket, its $2 cheaper and so easy to pick up a stroller at any park.

I thought I read that there was no longer length of stay ticket available? Can anyone confirm that has been there recently? TIA!

You could always purchase a cheap double stroller on craigslist and then post it back up for sale when you get back. You would likely get back what you paid for it, making the final cost free.

As others mentioned, it's up to the bus drivers and people at the turnstiles to stop wagons and rolling coolers from going in. Sometimes they miss some or a CM doesn't know they are not allowed. I also know that sometimes people with the rolling coolers are told they can bring them in, but are not allowed to roll them (or I've even seen people with full size rolling suitcases) :confused3

Anyway, here is the website I mentioned that rents wagons (A Baby's Best Friend). They mention in bold type that NOTE: Wagons are not permitted in the Walt Disney World theme parks.
Since they rent wagons, I'm sure they would have checked it out and possibly added the bold note so that they would not have unhappy customers who were denied access with the wagons.
