So we will be at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge in May. We have been many times for dining but never have we stayed here before. Anyone usually put room requests on and if so what do you usually put? We are in a One bedroom and are so excited! I am pregnant so I think being near an elevator would be great but is there rooms closer to the main lodge side of the villas or do people have special requests they put in? We usually stay at BLT and always book lake view then put in requests for North side even numbers (per someone I found on the DIS so I thought my fellow DISers could steer me in the right direction again!!) Thank you for the info!!! :) :goodvibes

yes you can say near the elevators - but would also say lake side - the bad views and VWL does a few bad views (my opinion) - are on the road side.

if you don't request first floor then being closer to the WL doesn't really matter.

on the first floor near the sidewalk is an entry that is closer to WL.

make sure they now your problem. so that someone won't be having a bad day and put you down the furthest hall. Now it is not close to BWV furthest hall - but it can still be walk. also might consider a wheelchair - you will have a lot of walking to do at WDW - as you well know

Congratulations!!!

VWL is a small resort. Really small. Most of the views are of the woods. You won't see the road or the bus stop (except maybe a bit of the bus stop roof through the trees). There are lots of trees surrounding the villas, but you might see a slight glimpse of the lake through the trees. And you might also see the pool.

You will be close to the bus stop, but you will have a little walk to the main pool and boat dock.

Thank you so much!! :goodvibes :goodvibes This is my first trip pregnant so I am trying to just make sure we are aware of everything. We plan on just taking it very slow so that it won't be too much and if I need to relax we can. I am so excited about VWL and trying a new resort!! Thank you so much for your advice!! :)

You'll appreciate the relative serenity of VWL, and given that it is a small resort, there aren't any interminably long walks (though to be fair, some parking spots are a small hike). As for room request, this is what we always ask:
a) Lakeside, preferably close to the pool and courtyard: the closer to the pool/courtyard you are, the closer to the elevators, and lakeside means you will have glimpses of the lake through the trees
b) Floors 2-4: Unless you prefer a ground level floor, requesting these floors means you'll have a balcony, and as previously mentioned, if you're lakeside, then you'll have some view, however spotty, of the lake and most certainly trees. However, we don't request the 5th floor since those balconies are dormer-style, meaning they have solid railings which require you to stand in order to see anything from there. As we enjoy sitting out some nights and catching peeks of EWP and even Wishes while enjoying some alone time, the 5th floor just doesn't appeal to us.

Hope this helps. Good luck and congratulations! :thumbsup2

Enjoy your trip. Part of the charm of WL and VWL is taking some time to enjoy the common spaces. In VWL there's a sitting room off the lobby with chairs around a cozy fireplace and checkers/chess tables, etc.
