Hi Everyone,

My family and I bought vwl without ever staying there. We were with friends at BWV when we bought in. To be honest I was disappointed when our guide told us BWV was sold out.
So I was wondering if some of you nice people could tell me somethings about owning at this resort that you love about it. I know I can stay anywhere but I am reading that some people truely love this resort.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks,
Lisa

The VWL is the DVC resort closest to the Magic Kingdom. We own at two resorts but when we want our vacation to be primarily a Magic Kingdom vacation, we stay at the VWL.

For example even riding the boats around seven seas lagoon and bay lake is a lot more fun for the kids than when they rent a water sprite at the BWV's. Something about seeing that castle in the background.

And it is so much easier getting back and forth from the Magic Kingdom on the boat.

when you arrive there after a busy day at the parks you truly feel like you have left the state of Florida and traveled to the Pacific northwest. It is such a relaxing atmosphere.

The decor is very nice also. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We love to walk over to Ft Wilderness on the path or rent a bike for the ride. We also love to rent the boats on Bay Lake. My daughter loves the visits from the animals when they bring them over from Ft. Wilderness. Since my daughter isn't yet into "slide" pools, she loves the quiet pool and the steps into it. I love the fact that it is quiet and relaxing. I like to leave the "stimulation" at the end of the day and just relax. I love sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch, finding the hidden Mickeys in the foyer, and going over to Whispering Canyon for some fun.

When we lived in Montana, we went to Yellowstone several times. A beautiful park.

Now that Yellowstone is too far away, and we have grown to love Disney, the Villas at Wilderness Lodge are the next best thing. We bought points at VWL last November and are planning a trip in Nov 2003. Most of our points are at OKW.

Hi Lisa,
Also from Massachusetts here and despite the fact that we look at Pine trees every day, I just adored my vacation at VWL. The week that we spent there in December was the most relaxing that we've had. VWL is very cozy, the theming is magnificent, it isn't large so everything is right there for you. Loved the proximity to the MK as my daughter is only 2 and we have another due soon - MK will be our destination for quite a while.
I also found transpotation to other parks/resorts not a problem at all. For people who like to constantly be in the complete middle of the action all the time, VWL may be too laid back. I liken it to my home. I live in the suburbs and while I love spending time in Boston and do a lot. I love the fact that when I'm home, I'm away from that activity enjoying the orchards, etc.
Same goes for DW. Loved spending an evening at the Boardwalk but I really wouldn't want to sleep there. BCV seems a little better as at least it is across the way. I think that I'd really enjoy OKW (we love golf) for the same - get away from it all feeling and I'm dying to try HH.
I guess what I'm saying is that it depends on your personality - it's nice that there are options for everyone. I love everything about VWL and am glad that it's our home.

We took the kids out in water mice the last time we were there. I'm the type of person who goes fast and jumps other people's wakes (of course, maintaining boat safety and respecting others on the water)
Well, my son was laughing and giggling and having a great time. I went around a few minutes and then stopped right in front of the Magic Kingdom. I said (in my most Disney Magic voice) "look, Nick...the Magic Kingdom"
To which he said "cool, can we go fast again?"

Well, at least *I* was awe-struck!

p.s. we LOVE VWL! We just adore the theming and the location of the resort is very convenient. Also it's a great place to be if it's raining all day (like when we were there during Hurricane Gordon) Because everything is there (gift shops, arcades, restaurants, etc) we didn't even need to leave the building. Previously we had stayed at DxL. While "stuck" at VWL we commented about how trapped you'd feel in your room if it was raining that hard at DxL.

It depends what you are looking for when you are in WDW. We love the VWL because it is relaxing and quiet. The BWV are right in the middle of everything, way too much for us. We go to WDW when it is crowded and at the end of the day, we like to get away from the crowds and relax in the Villa area.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to share your view of the Lodge. I was wondering if I would like it, as I do look at pine trees all days as willow mentioned.
But thanks to all of you, it has eased my worry.

Thanks Again Diser's your the best.
Lisa
