I write this in a rather depressed state as I am SO SO SO not ready to be home--and dealing with single digit temps!
We just got home from a fantastic trip to Disney. We stayed at VWL (our home resort and our 6th stay there). We arrived at the resort at about 10:30 a.m. from the 4-day special Magic Cruise. We anticipated that we wouldn't see a room until about 3 or 4 that day. We were more than surprised and pleased to be given a room right on the spot! The room was clean and everything in working order (except the clock which was replaced immediately after a phone call).
We headed to Chef Mickey's for dinner that night and had a rather magical encounter on the way home. We took the little boat back to VWL from the Contemporary. On our way from the Fort Wildnerness Stop the Wishes fireworks started. The boat captain asked if we were in a hurry to get to the lodge. We--and the other small group on board--said "not at all". She puttered out there on the lake so we could watch the fireworks!!!!! It was great!
We had GREAT transportation the entire time. Never waiting for a boat or a bus for more than a few minutes. Our longest wait for transportation was a bus to animal kingdom and that was a mere 8 minutes!!!!
On the night of the extra magic hours at the MK, the Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge boats were split...one boat going to one, the next to the other. It worked great!
We had some fun character encounters this trip (Dale at Liberty Tree Tavern & TweedleDee/Dum at MK come to mind most).
The crowds were REALLY light once the Marathon weekend was over! And the extra night hours at the different parks was awesome! What a nice addition! The atmosphere was so good in fact, that it made the sometimes impolite Brazilian tour groups that frequent Disney in January a bit easier to take.
And the weather was incredible. We had 80 and sun everyday (except for Friday the 14th when we had to leave in early afternoon for the airport anyway--so that made it a tiny bit easier to leave).
That's it for now.
Thanks for sharing the highlights with me!
