VWL studio at 7mo - 2nd weekend in Dec?

I am currently in the process of buying my 1st DVC contract. I'm looking for a small contract, and there's not much out there now. Due to the point costs, it will not be a VWL contract.

But... I'd like to stay at VWL 12/8-12/12 this year - studio. Should I wait for my purchase to go through and risk the 7mo window, or rent points now from a VWL owner? The major risk is that I'd get a contract with banked 2005 points, and will have to do something with them.

It is hard to say since VWL is one of the most popular DVC resorts at Christmas time. Right now there is plenty of availability but that can change quickly. If you wait until the 7 month window I would call day by day.

Got VWL in May at the 7-month with no problem. Good luck for Dec.

If you're looking for a weekend, I got a weekend at VWL in a studio, in 2004, at only 3 months out for Dec. 19th 2 nights. At 7 months out, I would think you would get the weekend, but the other 2 nights will be harder.

Last year I booked VWL studio right at the 7 month window for 12/7-12/12. Bobbi is correct, the weekend was available and the weeknights harder.
We waitlisted the remainder. The waitlist came through in July.
