We leave in exactly one week for our first trip home to the VWL. We are so excited! When I booked 11 months out, I requested a non-smoking, non-handicapped, top floor (we are in a dedicated 2 bedroom). Now after reading here it seems that the top floor request may be not the best (solid balconies and weird ceiling configurations). Do you think we will be OK, or should I request anything different, and if so what should I do? I would hate to go to the bottom of the request pile. Have any of you had any not so good experiences with the top flooor? Thank you.

We stayed on the top floor in May and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a 1BR with a woods view on the Bay Lake side.

We had the normal railing balcony, not the solid wall one. We did see some solid wall balconies due to the unusual roof configuration at times, but I think most of the top floor rooms had railing balconies.

I don't know about the weird ceiling configurations but I really wouldn't worry too much about any of this. You are going to an awesome 2BR villa attached to an awesome deluxe Disney resort.

My advice is to try not to set up expectations of perfection for any trip....you're bound to be disappointed somewhere along the way. Relax and know that you are going to a great vacation destination, in wonderful accommodations, and that you have another 40 years of enjoyment coming to you!

I hope you have a great trip....we look forward to hearing about it. :)

We stayed in a dedicated 2BR on the top floor in July. We also did not have a solid rail on our balcony. The ceilings are vaulted, but I thought they added to the charm of the lodge. Made me feel like I was in a mountain cabin or something. Our room number was 5553. The only bad thing I can say about it was that it was quite a hike from the elevator, but since everyone in our party was young and healthy, we looked at this as a warm up for our days in the park! Enjoy VWL!!

In my opinion, your first two requests are far more important than what floor you are on.

Thanks for the prompt replies. It sounds like we will be OK. We can't wait to go! I'll post a report when we get back.
