Thanks to the advise I booked at VWL today (btw, they put me on hold and called over and "cleared at room for me, even though there were none in the computer at MS suggestion).

Now here are my questions (as the ultimate planner)

What is "Iron Spike Room"?

Does anyone know what time they do the resort tours?

Anything special I need to plan a specific time for at the resort itself?

Thanks
Sandy

The Iron Spike room is a well appointed sitting area off of the atrium at VWL. There is a fireplace, nice leather chairs, and I believe a checker table (though I don't know how to actually get the checkers). There is also a section of Walt Disney's personal train encased in glass. It really is a nice, peaceful area.

I can't remember exactly, but I think tours are given a couple times a week, early in the morning. I have yet to go on a tour, but those who have say it is great. Next trip I will go.

Have fun at VWL.....

Stop at Guest Services. They will give you a one page handout called "Wilderness Adventures" that will tell you what time the tours and other activities for the week you are there. The Wonders of the Lodge Tour started at 9:00am the week we we were there, but they only had it Wednesday through Saturday.

If you have little ones Sandy, that page will give you information on activities for children as well like a fireside storytelling and the Campfire and Disney Movie Schedule for Fort Wilderness.

Have fun!

Another thing you can ask at check-in is if they have any days open you during your stay for Flag Familly. If they do you can sign up to go to the roof with a guide and raise the 5 flags on the resprt at about 8:15 am. We did this on Monday morning and it was a wonderful experience and an amazing view of the WDW property.

Go sit out on the beach and watch the Electric something Pagant. Starts at 9:30'ish, kids get a kick out of it, it's fun the first few times you see it.

We took the lodge tour, very nice, we met in the lobby for a 9:00 am tour. If you have kids, they'll enjoy the "interactive" meals at Whispering Canyon.

You'll have a great time.

When we stayed at Christmas time in 2001 at WL, a few times during the week, early in the morning there were assorted characters that would gather in the lobby to do pictures and sign autographs. I forget which mornings it was, but I'm sure the CMs at check-in will be able to tell you.

That was the infamous Character Caravan. It was billed as a replacement for Early Entry - Disney said it was in response to guest surveys that indicated guests wanted more character interaction.

The Character Caravan was discontinued sometime last year. IIRC, it was shortly before Early Entry (now known as Extra Magic Hour) was reinstated.
