Now that we had to postpone our trip and we ended up booking a 2BR at VWL in July I would like to find out more about the VWL

We just bought into BCV last Dec and had to cancel our May trip and there was no availability at BCV at the time we needed to reschedule.

I've been to WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon and loved the Resort's ambiance and am really looking forward to staying here

So.......

What type of views do they have?

What don't we want?

Where are the smoking/non-smoking rooms?

Are there any good websites out there of pics etc other than the DIS and Deb Will's site?

Thank you all

I'm not sure where the smoking/non-smoking rooms are.
The views can be of woods, pool, or grasslands & woods (not a recognized DVC view). There are a couple of the latter that also have a view of the dumpster. It is not as bad as it sounds, but I would still shy away from that one. Some of the views you can also see the bus depot, but again, really no big deal here. You don't really notice unless you are looking for it. If you request a room on the pool side, you will not get a dumpster, or bus depot view.
On our last stay we were in room 5553 (dedicated 2br), and the view was the best I have seen. It was pure woods, with an opening in the trees where you could see the lake. --Total Wilderness-- No boats, no lights, no motor cars, not a single luxury....

Good luck....

Next time we stay we are going to request a room closer to the elevators. The "dumpster" end of the Villas is quite a walk to the main lodge. Some don't mind, and it's really not that bad, but something closer will be on my request sheet from now on. There is also a room with no balcony, don't recall which one it is though, I'm sure someone else will supply that info. We only go to VWL during the Christmas season so I'm sure the place has a whole different feel in July, but it's a great resort regardless of the season.

glewis1123,

Hi, I don't know much about the VWL, but I have seen some great pics that I will share! These are on a site called ***********.com and here is a link to the VWL pics for you:
Suite Disney VWL

hope that helps!

Great Pics DizneyDawn!!

The last time we stayed at WLV we had a woods view room. Itruely felt like I was in the woods. It was hard to believe there was so much going on just steps and boat rides away.

WLV is a great place to explore, play and relax. You can rent bikes, mini-boats or just walk on the paths through the woods.

Enjoy!!

I have a 'virtual tour' of a VWL one bedroom on my site. We had one of the few pool view rooms - most are woods view. It is wonderful there, you will love VWL!

You can access my site through the link in my signature, or use this link to go directly to the VWL tour: VWL One Bedroom Photo Tour

Thanks for all the links and suggestions and all the beautfiful pics

I am so looking forward to this trip!!!!!

I love the woods view. Our last trip I sat out on the balcany and watch 3 deer wandering around in the woods. It was just awesome that was our first trip and I decided right then and there I would ask for the woods view every single visit. :D

Is "woods view" always out to the "back side" of the resort? I don't want to look at a parking lot or hear buses -- it's supposed to be "the Wilderness!"

Thanks! Also thanks for great photos here. We are looking forward to our June visit. :)

Hi, Colleen. I actually just responded to your thread, but I'll try to answer here.
The woods view (as described by MS) can be the back or the front. The front will have high grasslands in addition to woods.
If you ask for the side of the pool (not necessarily a pool view), you will not have a dumpster or bus view. Personally, I don't think those views are that bad, but pure woods are nicer. What size room are you getting? Perhaps someone can advise you further with floors ect... if we knew what size room.

Hi

We've got a 2BR 7/24 - 27 and waitlisted for the 23rd.

Are there only woods or pool views at VWL?

Or, do they have any Lake views?

We've also requested a smoking-optional room as my husband smokes - does anyone know what floor the smoking optional rooms are? We had a major problem with Poly Concierge a fews ago and they put us in a non-smoking room - told my husband to go ahead and smoke inside the room - which we adamately refused to do - took an hour to straighten out but finally they begrudgingly moved us.

Looking for all the knowledge I can get on VWL

Thanks all

I believe I remember reading on these boards last year that all of the smoking rooms are on the second floor. However, we were on the second floor two years ago in a non-smoking room. It faced the covered walkway that connects VWL with WL. It was not a bad view as it made for good people watching. It may be that the smoking rooms are on the other side of the resort.

Maistre Gracey---we were in room 5553 last July!:bounce: I must agree with you on that view! I loved sitting out on the balcony in the early morning and looking at that little peek of the lake.
