I am doing a solo trip in July and going back in August with my DD (7). I was planning on staying at VWL in July as I have heard so many great things and than BCV with her in August because I thought she would love the pool.

Here's my dilema (and don't yell at me, please!) I love BWV but was disappointed in OKW. It may be my lack of patience or my need to be "in the heart of things". I can't exactly put my fingr on it by OKW didn't do it for me. I think, as silly as it sounds, it may be the lack of a lobby and not starting each day feeling like I was on property. I love everything I have read about VWL but am concerned if it's distance will make me feel disconnected.

I would love to have stayed at all 4 resorts to know my priorities for the future (and of course for add-ons:p )

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Sandy

P.S. DVC sure makes you a snob. I was at the All Stars years ago with my parents (though it was far from great!):p

If your worried about feeling "disconnected" you probably won't like VWL. Although the lobby isn't far, you do definately have a sense of isolation at WL in general. Once you turn the corner onto WL property it feels like you have left WDW and just entered some rustic setting away from all the hussle and bussle of everything.. I love it! But it might not before you...

I'll admit to being biased-I love BCV! But here's one reason I love it-I could sit on my balcony and hear the music in WS. I loved that I could close my eyes and almost feel like I was over there, yet it was so peaceful. BTW, BCV is my "solo" resort-always stay at OKW when I'm with DH because it's his favorite. But when I'm solo, it's BCV for me!

Well, you certainly won't have the lack of a lobby at WL/VWL. The WL lobby is without doubt the most grand on property (yes, IMO, more grand than the GF).

As far as the disconnected feeling, I don't feel that at all. It is just different being close to the MK instead of Epcot. Besides, why do you think anything other than an Epcot resort is out in the boonies?

Have fun with whatever you decide....

I'm not sure this is it. I didn't feel this at PO. I don't know, maybe it was just something about my last trip and I should give OKW another try but it sounds like I will be happy with VWL. Like all of you, I really believe in the Dis magic. My patience for buses was little at OKW so I started my DIS day waiting in parking line. (Hence my recent post about a special parking line for on-site guests). I think I am spoiled;) ...at BWV, with the valet, you start your day with a CM greeting you and wishing you a good day or someone as you went through the lobby.

Who knows, maybe I'm just strange, I've been accused of that before;)

We own points at VWL and BCV. I think the main lobby is closer at Wilderness Lodge than it is at BCV. Also, VWL has their own mini lobby (so I feel like I get two lobbies for the price of 1 at VWL). Which is really great if it's raining outside. Even the walk to the main lobby at the Wilderness Lodge is covered from VWL (which at OKW if it's raining, you're out in the open if you want to walk to the lobby/gift shop areas).

We prefer the hotel feel DVCs also. That being said, OKW is great if you have a large group and you need extra space (and you have a car).

Well, in my opinion you cannot go wrong - you have a fabulous choices ahead of you and either one would be grand

Thanks
Jason

That child of yours deserves a shot at Stormalong Bay. I love Wilderness Lodge, but Beach Club is one happening place! You can walk to Epcot. There's tons of places to eat, an arcade, a nice quiet pool, and of course Beaches and Cream. But Stormalong Bay is the real draw.

I would probably stay at the VWL on my solo trip and the BCV with my child.

I always find VWL to be very serene and relaxing. BCV is a little more in the middle of things. Stormalong Bay is quite a pool complex, and I am sure your little one would enjoy it immensel.

The "lobby" feel will be about the same for both resorts as the DVC rooms are disconnected add-on wings to the main resort. I love the boat access to MK and FW that VWL has & love the walkability to Epcot and MGM that BCV offers.VWL offers great boating activities-including the $199.00 LOS type pass they offer for water craft & bikes, but BCV offers SAB. You will not be at all disappointed staying at VWL.

You say you'll be at BCV in August, by all means try VWL in July. But beware, you may want to change your Aug plans afterwards.

I don't think you'll get the same disconnected feeling at VWL that you spoke of. You can take a boat either to the MK or to the Contemporary, then go in and get on the monorail. So you're really not far from everything at VWL - and the resort itself (both the Lodge and the Villas) are SO relaxing and SO SO beautifully themed. I would try the VWL at least for one trip.

Well, I would stay at BCV for both. But that's just me. Epcot WS is my favorite place to hang out while at WDW, and it's so quick to get there from BCV. And my DD loves the pool, so that's where we stay when we go together. Haven't actually done a solo trip. When Dad is along, we usually stay in a 1 BR at OKW. He loves it there, more space, more kicking back, bigger kitchen, and he likes driving to the parks anyway.

Funny about the "All Stars Shoebox"! I asked my just-turned-12 DD where she would like to stay for the first night of our Mom-daughter trip in August, before we check into BCV on Sunday. I suggested All Stars, thinking she might go for checking out the theming. She looked at me and said "well, All Stars just doesn't have the service, does it?" Guess that's how she earned her "Princess" t-shirt. Diana
