going to Disney mid october...already have reservation at VWL, and we are on the waitlist for BCV - I think I may prefer the decor/theme there.

Anybody want to post their likes and dislikes of each?

Any input would be helpful. It is our 1st time going to WDW.

It will be a studio for myself my mom and DD (turning 4 during trip).

Also, any room preferences at either I should request?

Thanks!:tinker:

BCV is my home resort and I absolutely love it there. From the theming, stormalong bay, being able to walk to Epcot and MGM it is the perfect place for us to stay. Last December, we had a high pool view room and we could see the MK fireworks from our room. This past February, we had a last minute trip and I could not get into BCV, we stayed at the VWL. To be honest, the units at the VWL seem to be in better shape than those of BCV. It did not take us long to get to MK and that was great with a 3 and 4 year old. The main pool was closed and the quiet pool at the Villas was anything but. We had a woods view. If you think that you will be spending more time at the MK, then I would stay at the WLV since it is your first time. There are plenty of things to do with a 4 yr old at the campground as well. There is a petting zoo, pony rides, marshmallow roast and movies under the stars. With the Food and Wine festival in October, BCV will be tough to get but not impossible.

We're doing a split stay in the fall at both resorts, which will be our first visit at each, so I can't vote yet. However, I don't think you could be disappointed at either resort if the theming and location work for you.

Our first week will be focused on rest and MK for Haloween, so VWL makes perfecdt sense for us. I can't wait to walk to FW, boat to MK, see the Water Pageant, and just have a good time. Then, we move to BCV second half for Food & Wine, Stormalong Bay, and general Epcot area fun.

I think it best comes down to where you will spend most of your time. Both are great places.

You will enjoy either of them very much. I think I'd just let the waitlist gods decide for you where you'll end up.

I thought I'd throw one other option out there. Given the people you will have going on this trip, would you consider a studio at OKW instead? Those are the only DVC studios with two beds instead of a bed and a sleeper/sofa. That way, you and your mother could each have a bed and your DD could sleep with you.

Just sounds like a more comfortable arrangement to me.

No matter what, I hope your first trip to WDW will be a magical one! :)

I think BCV is a dreadful, nasty place! I can't understand why anyone would ever want to stay there :rolleyes1

Seriously, both resorts are great, but we love our "home" at BCV!

I have stayed at both - and neither is our home resort. I voted for VWL because I liked being out in the woods watching the deer at sunset. And I loved reading/napping in the Iron Spike room. I also loved the decor/colors, and I love just looking at the Wilderness Lodge lobby. Plus, you can possibly be the flag family at VWL (like us back in March).

On the negative side, both have REALLY long hallways! That's why I hope to stay at OKW on our next trip.

Stacy, where on LI? West Islip here. I just bought both VWL & BCV so I couldn't decide at all!!!!! And haven't been to either YET. We are doing BCV in Sept. and VWL for x-mas time.
A can't lose situation...
Have a great time
Chris

This is a tough one since they are both awesome in different ways. A 4YO may tilt the scale to VWL as you may want more time at MK. Then again if you are using a stroller you will like walking back ( or pushing the stroller onto a boat) from MGM and EPCOT after the night shows while everyone else waits for buses and have to fold up the stroller and carry the child. Both are great, if the list doesn't come through then you will not have to pick and VWL is great anyway.

Now these are the dilemmas I love to have. I'm going with the VWL only because you have a 4 year old and it's real close to the MK. Our home resort is the BCV's and we love it. We stayed at the VWL and instantly became obssessed. Either way you'll be at a fabulous resort.

Good luck!

My vote is for VWL, Nice place to kick back for a break,

eliza61, what part of SJ? we are in Cherry Hill

If your plans are to spend a significant amount of time at Epcot for the F&W festival, the BCV will be very convenient. On the other hand, if you're thinking of the MK as the park you're most likely to frequent, VWL is the better choice. Either resort is nice, so you won't be disappointed no matter where you stay. It pretty much boils down to personal preferences.

Have a great trip!
