VWL Location Question

We are traveling for our first VWL trip in January. Is there any good place I should request for a room location from MS. We're staying in a 1 BR. Any suggestions would be great (ie: close to pool, food, busses, etc.)

The resort is not large and the villa building is small, I would simply decide if I wanted an upper or lower floor, end of hall or near elevators. Views are pretty much the same.

We had a great 1 bdrm on one of our trips. It was on the third floor to the right as you exit the elevator - its a short hallway. It faced the WL rooms, but I am probably one of the least picky folks about view. And if you looked to the right off the balcony at night you could see/hear the Electrical Water Pagent. It was a dedicated one bedroom so no door connecting to a studio and it had lots of closet space. Because it was at the end of the hall there were no happy feet or happy talk about all the fun things people had done during their day at the park going by. And at that end of the building there are only three floors so no one was walking on our heads. It was great, at least IMHO.

Somewhere on the boards is a database of room report. I think Simba's Mom has that. You might try to find it. Might give you some other ideas.

We always request a room on the lakeside of the resort. The other side overlooks the parking lot and bus stop. Also, resorts on the lakeside can see (through the trees) the water pageant in the evenings.

We are looking for the best location to request for two studios. I would love a view but it is more important to me to be close to the bus or boat transportation, either or would be great. Any suggestions?

Since there is only one building, lakeside vs. parking lot side will not matter in closeness to transportation. The best you could do is to request a room close to the lobby, which would save you a little bit of time from walking down the halls. Its not a large or confusing building. Both the front and rear doors are very close together.

As others have mentioned, the entire building is not that large, so you will be nearly as close to the buses (front entrance then down a covered boardwalk) as you will the pool (rear entrance down a sidewalk). All the food is located in the main WL building, but it's a "whopping" two-minute walk from your room to Whispering Canyon Cafe or Artist Point, and another 30 seconds or so to get to Roaring Forks. Since you seem not to have stayed at VWL before, I will add that there are two pools with the Hidden Springs pool being quieter (no slide) and located directly behind the Villas building. The main pool is a minute further along the sidewalk, directly behind the main lobby area. As for the boat dock, it's the longest walk of all, yet it is only another minute past the main pool. For convenience, we find it hard to beat VWL. We consider it to be our home away from home. Enjoy!

Do the DVC units and hotel units share the same lobby as they do at the boardwalk?

Yes. You will check in at the WL lobby.

They share the same check-in lobby as Tina states, but the Villas do have their own smaller lobby area, as well, the Iron Spike room. It has a smaller version of the fireplace from the main lobby, has lots of places to sit and relax, read a book, play checkers, talk, or sip a nice drink. There usually isn't much actvity going on there as most use it mainly coming and going from the boardwalk in front or the pool in the rear. Sturdy Branches health club is located in that same area.
