VWL- for July 5-12

Hi! I'm trying to reserve a one bedroom at VWL from July 5 - 12 next year. They tell me they only have studios available in this timeframe. Does anyone know if they just haven't released the one bedrooms to the public yet, or if they are all gone? In fact the only one bedrooms were at OKW and SSR. The lady at CRO said she can't tell from her system whether they have already been booked, but to check back periodically for an opening. Should I give up now and make other plans?

About 96% of rooms at a DVC resort are owned by DVC members and are held back for DVC members to book. If none or little VWL members have traded their points out, there will be little or no availability at VWL. SSR having availability doesn't suprise me, since next summer Phase II will be open and they will be lots or rooms available, and probably not enough members. VWL is the smallest of all the DVC resorts with only 136 rooms. There only 27 one bedroom homes, with the ability to add an additional 45 (though they are part of 2 bedroom lock-offs so never that many). So assuming that 45 of the 2 bedroom lock-offs get split up into one bedrooms and studios, you have 23 additional units. Meaning there are only 50 1 bedroom units to be booked for any week during the year. It is possible that 50 DVC members already have ressies at VWL for that week, maybe. I know I have a ressie for July 1 - July 8, so I'm tying up one room for your nights, but remember it's a different pool. My guess is that all the one bedrooms at VWL are currently in the DVC pool, and unavailable for cash bookings. You only choices are to wait and keep trying, change your plans, or rent points from a DVC member. They would be able to access the DVC pool and make ressies for you now.

I rented points for VWL for our upcoming November stay. I can give you the email address of the person I rented points from if you want. He rents points all the time, will send you a written contract and takes credit cards for payments at his dental office.

Have you thought about buying your own DVC points with the money you would be giving to someone else? You could probably make a nice down payment with that money, plus Disney will finance your purchase.
