VWL--BBQ grills?

We have just booked out first DVC trip to VWL for Sept. We don't plan to eat out every single night, matter of fact I would love to cook for my family some easy things so we can relax etc. It is my understanding that there are grills scattered about the DVC resorts to use first come first served. Anyone ever used them? I am curious as to placement and if there is a picnic area near them. Do they ever seem to be "full"?

We are lucky in that we drive in so I can pack up a mess of groceris from home. I am thinking some "adult beverages" and a nice steak dinner on our first night. The kids can swim, we adults can just "vacation".

We rarely see the grills being used, but they are definitely there. At VWL it is down near the marina area. I don't remember if there are picnic tables or not...seems like there were but I'm not remembering.

I am so looking forward to this trip--I don't think I can wait until Sept! If you are at the gorgeous VWL in Sept follow your nose to the steaks on the grill and it will be me! And I'm sure we can scare up an extra plate and a margarita.

There used to be picnic tables by the grills but I think they were removed in '05, not sure why.

Someone read my mind. I was just going to post this same question. We're getting down there Monday morning and we'll go shopping then. We're there for 9 days so we don't plan on eating out every meal. Even though we're on the dining plan. Thanks guys
