VP Cheney experienced abnormal heartbeat

WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney experienced an abnormal heartbeat Wednesday morning, went to the White House physician and scheduled a hospital visit to "restore his normal rhythm." For the 67-year-old Cheney, who canceled a campaign event he was to attend later Wednesday in Illinois, it will be the second time in less than a year that he will have the cardiological procedure.

Cheney has had four heart attacks, starting when he was 37 years old, and many related doctor and hospital visits over the years since. He has had quadruple bypass surgery and two artery-clearing angioplasties. In 2001, he had a special pacemaker implanted in his chest. The pacemaker's battery was replaced last year, and then the entire device was replaced.
In 2005, he had surgery to repair an arterial aneurysm on the back of each knee.

There are two ways to look at this. Either he is immortal or he is the luckiest guy on the planet. Either way, I wish him no ill will. It will be interesting to hear what he has to say once he gets around to writing his best-seller.

Seriously. What a testament to modern medical technology.

Imagine, just 50 years ago, a heart attack was a death sentence. Now, in many (but not all) cases, it's a minor procedure.

Do they even do the "zipper" surgeries or "open heart" surgeries anymore? Almost all of the people I know who have had heart surgeries recently were orthoscopic. Although, I don't believe any were extremely serious (thank God).

Exactly!! I'm not making light of him still being alive after everything he's gone thru, I give him props! We all knew he was a stubborn man!! That kind of attitude can come in handy in situations like this!

I'm not. The dailykos — which Barack Obama has said he reads daily, and where he has, in fact, been a guest blogger — is a vicious, anti-Semitic, racist, hate site. It has no comparison on the right. There are fringe blogs on the right that no one reads, but the dailykos and huffingtonpost — also a vicious, anti-Semitic hate site — are the TOP lefty blogs. All the tolerant liberals read them, and when they put Joe Lieberman in black face or in a sex act with the president, the liberals just laaaaaugh and laaaaaugh. When a Republican gets sick or dies, oh Lord, they have a party like you can't imagine. Google some dailykos stuff when Tony Snow died. Yeah, it was real nice. They love that stuff!
