Wondering for my 6 and 4yo? The 6yo is scared of Ursula in the movie but as a barometer she was fine seeing Brave, Monsters Inc, & Shrek. She adores Ariel so she wants to try seeing it. The 4yo says she wants to see it too, yet she does not do well in dark & scary situations. She wasn't a big fan of Finding Nemo at AK almost two years ago and still remembers not liking the sharks. Will it be too scary for the younger one or even both?

I love, love , love this show/attraction but it does tend to scare young children.

I am going to say skip this if your kids don't like the dark. And Ursula is pretty scary in 'real life' for this show. My girls are now 6 and 10 and this might be the first year they don't get antsy when it gets dark and Ursula come out. Our last trip was when they were 3 and 7. My 3 year old clung to me during it and I had fingernail marks from her grip on my arms! The now10 year old held Daddy's hand really, really tight!

Our DD has been seeing it since she was 1, while it does get dark there are bubbles that are on the walls and ceilings that make you feel like you are underwater and there are cute neon fish that come out. Yes Ursula may not be the best to see but I think overall the show is worth trying!

VoLM was my 4 year old scaredy cat's favorite show when we went last year. She is scared of the dark and scary-type characters (Ursula) but we saw it twice and she even asked to go again. I think your kids will be fine - you could always hold the younger one if she gets scared during the show. Hope this helps!

I think it's scary. It is much more real than a movie and you have more sensory input. With a 6 year old I would explain it to her very well and let her decide. You can ask to be near an exit and agree to leave it she is having a hard time. Of course I'm the mom that had my 5 year old freak out on HM:sad2:.

I took both my niece's when they were 4yrs to see VotLM. The oldest niece doesn't like a lot of rides. Had a panic attack when I tried taking her on Winnie the Pooh. She loved it after I calmed her down. She had no problem with VotLM. Went on it a few times that trip and again the following year.

Last two years I took the younger niece and she was 4 & 5 on those trips and she loved VotLM we watched it over and over again.

They had more trouble with the 3D (more like 4D) shows. The older niece didn't like Mickey's PhilharMagic at all. The younger one at 5, kind of liked it.

If you go to YouTube you can watch a video of the show with her. That way she will know what's going on and won't be so scared.

My daughter (who is scared of almost everything) actually likes this show. She started going when she was 2 (4 now) and has enjoyed it every time. She still gets scared when Ursula comes out but we just have her close her eyes. I have found that sitting closer to the back of the theater is less intimidating for her. If you are concerned I would suggest sitting near an exit if possible in case you need a quick escape. We had to leave both Finding Nemo and Mickey's Philharmagic last year! I second the suggestion of watching questionable attractions on Youtube before you go to gage reaction. I have been doing this a lot lately as my daughter will be tall enough for some new attractions when we go in November this year.
