I have now heard this twice in the past month. It's scheduled to close late 2007. I don't get it. They are about to release the movie. Anyone else hear anything? :sad2:

WHAT?????????? I really hope not. The first time I saw it with my DD I got teary.

The only thing I heard is that Screamscape is reporting the possibility of converting the old 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea area to "Mermaid Lagoon," which is something that is currently at Tokyo DisneySea. However, that report says nothing about VOLM closing.

Can you share with us where you heard the reports? I haven't seen anything about it.

I actually heard about it here on the disboards a few weeks ago and then again on another board where someone mentions jimhillmedia and screamscape. I've looked at the jimhillmedia website, but couldn't find anything on it regarding this.

Oh my gosh! I hope this is just a rumor and not true! I have loved VOLM since I was a little girl! :sad2:

They better not!!!!!!
First Tarzan which was bad enough! but if they get rid of VLM im gunna have a cow! lol Mermaid Lagoon? i like it! lol never can have to much Ariel! :teeth:

I heard the reason they might be closing it is due to the Little Mermaid broadway show that is coming.

Oh my girls would be so upset..not to mention me..lol But a broadway type show would definitely make up for it ;)

:furious: I'm upset about tarzan too. I never got to see it! I heard it was great! This sucks. What's next?????

I find this interesting because part of the reason this has been rumored is the 2007 UG has this being reported by Jim Hill. In the book he makes it sound like it's a done deal because The Little Mermaid is going to be a Broadway production. Someone else brought up Lion King and how that is a very popular show in AK, so I don't know what will happen. I hope they don't remove it as our family always enjoys it!

While I definitely don't miss Tarzan Rocks, The Little Mermaid is my daughter's favourite.

JimHill published this in the Unoffical Guide....

His "reasoning" Disney won't have a shoe at MGM which has a competing show on Broadway..... (Has no one ever pointed out out to Mr. Hill that Beauty and the Beast AND the Lion King didn't have to close when the Broadway version opened???)

Until you get something offical from someone besides Jim Hill rumors inc. I would would not worry.

(It also appears to me that Jim has a habit of removing his "rumors" that turn out not to be true. I know I read that Carousel of Progress was closing on there, then it didn't close and the story disappered from the website)

I still can't figure out why the UG prints this stuff in their guide books. :confused3

Well I sent them feedback saying that IF this was in the future books I would not be buying and/or recomending them. They used to pride themselves on "facts' now they are running WAY to many "Jim Hill" blurbs...some of these were inaccurate before the book was even published...

I haven't heard anything, and i work there. Grant it we are usualy the last to hear about it. All I know is that some execs with plans had been seen looking at the staging show. But it may just be for some much needed refurbs.

Perhaps they will add back the number kiss the girl that was writen when the show went under its first major rehab in the mid 90's. but then opted out of it.

Beginning to sound like another unsubstantiated--and wrong--rumor. I hope so, as Little Mermaid is one of our "must do" things every visit to the Studios.
Every time we've gone, the theater has been absolutely full of people.

You're lucky.

Since you didn't see it,
I'm sure that the version of "Tarzan Rocks" that only exists in your IMAGINATION,
will always be better than the actual "Tarzan Rots" that is burned into in my MEMORY!

:goodvibes

I was not upset about Tarzan Rocks, but I sure will be if this rumor is true.

Blech, this is one of the many reasons I hate the Unofficial Guide.

I'm really hoping it's just a rumor. We love VOLM movie and the show. We would be very disappointed if they took it away. Maybe they're just going to refurb it.

OT I loved Tarzan Rocks! I only hope the Nemo show has some redeeming qualities.
