Hello Disney brides!!

Next October (2011) I will be celebrating my 15th anniversary and DH and I were talking about doing a vow renewal ceremony in DW (well, mostly its me talking about it....). We honeymooned in WDW and it has a special place for us.

I haven't found much information on Disney's website for vow renewals and I wasn't sure if it just fell under the wedding packages.

Has anyone done a vow renewal ceremony that can give me any tips/advice?

Thanks so much!!!

Disney looks at them just like the wedding packages. The only difference is you are supposed to bring your marriage license with you as opposed to getting a new one for unmarried couples.

Pricing, options, etc...are all the same.

There have been several VR's done in recent years so I would just look through the PJ's on here for information.

Welcome and good luck with planning. Everyone here is so nice and helpful, so ask away !

Thanks! I assumed that was the case, but just wanted to be sure!!!

Congratulations!!!! I am wondering if maybe we should wait for our 20th as a more "normal" time, but we will see.

I'm thinking really really small, maybe just my DH and DD small. I envision just a simple dress and my DH in nice black bermuda shorts with a breezy white linen shirt and barefoot on "my" beach at BCV. That is as far as I have gotten!!!

At what point is the Disney wedding planner necessary? If I don't have a traditional dress, can I just have a JP and make my own arrangements?

What are your plans like? Large? Small? Medium?

for a ceremony on disney property you need to go through DFTW you can contact them approx. 18 months out for info. when you can book varies on weather you want a wishes or escape pkg. you can bring own clergy but if not on disney list , I think they are considered a guest.

we are planning for a wishes VR which allows for flexibility but requires a higher min, spend . we are just having family and friends (25 total) our dds will be attendants. we are having a 10 am at wedding pavilion , brunch in napa room and then evening dessert party at epcot. good luck:goodvibes

Sounds magical! I hope you have a perfect day :lovestruc

Welcome!!!

We are planning a 10 year VR in 2011, also Wishes and like previous posters have told you before it is the same as planning a wedding, there is no distinction.

We are having a blast planning so far, we are keeping our guest list at around 65-70 (only the closest friends and family), we eloped when we first got married and we promised my parents that later down the road we would have a "proper" wedding, so we decided a 10th year anniversary VR was a perfect milestone to have something like this and celebrate with everybody :dance3:

You can check my planning journal (link is on my signature) to see what I have been up to.

Thanks for the info! Good for you! Sounds like you are doing it up right!!!

I was looking at the Escape package which ranges from $4500-$5500 but says you have to spend $7500 minimum. Is that on top of the package or including it? So if I did the Canada pavilion package which is $5500 or so, I have to spend an additional $2000 on food or rooms or something?

The $7500 minimum is only on the weekends. So that would be the normal fee plus the additional $2000-$2500 on additional items to get you to that minimum. That additional money can't include the money you spent on your rooms. It would be things like cake upgrade, floral and decor upgrades.

We had a Wishes VR this past November. You can read about it with the link in my signature below. At the beginning is a link to my PJ where you can read our original plans and see how they changed during our planning. We had 47 guests and it was amazing.

You don't have to wait till your 20th anniversary to do a VR! We didn't and we didn't even do it anywhere close to our anniversary date! The best thing about a VR is there really are no rules! You can do it how you want. Go big or have a smaller more intimate event. It really is such a great way to celebrate your life and marriage, especially in front of your kids!

Let me know if you have any questions, i'd love to help!:goodvibes

Thanks for the info! I will check out your TJ & TR. I'm saying wait until the 20th to save up for a few more years :rotfl:

I think I am right in saying that the $7500 minimum spend applies to week-end Escape weddings/VRs AND any Escape event that has a private dining reception or dessert party arranged through DFTW. So, for example we are planning an Escape VR in early May 2011 and because I am determined to have a dessert party the same evening and I want to wear my dress to it, I must book it through DFTW and therefore must meet the minimum of $7500 even though my VR is (hopefully) on a Wednesday.

Welcome! I am also planning my 10 year VR in October 2011. We are doing a wishes ceremony and currently have 24 people coming.

It has been fun, but overwhelming trying to decide what to do. We have a site visit in May with DFTW to take a look at some of the venues and hopefully that will help us decide.

Congratulations! How many years will you be celebrating?

Hi! I'm actually planning on doing the same thing. But it looks like we are celebrating 5 years. Haha. Because I'm pretty sure it won't happen this year (4).

So my question is can we just have a little intimate commitment ceremony. DH and I eloped and had a lovely like 20 minute stint at the legal office to sign our marriage certificate. I may sound a little selfish because I just want it to be me and DH and if we have a baby by that time them too. But no one else. I didn't want to go through the drama of setting something up where the whole family could go. I was just wondering did you need to bring your wedding certificate for that as well?? And that falls under the Escape package as well?

near our 20th anniversary with a wishes VR. We had a rehearsal dinner at Citricos' followed by a welcome DP at the GF Whitehall room on Wed night and then on Thursday a ceremony at the WP followed by a cocktail reception at the Tusker House and then a plated dinner and the show at the Festival of the Lion King. Everything was absolutely amazing and I have memories that will last me a lifetime.

We did a vow renewal last January, just after our 24th anniversary. Ours "looked" like a wedding, because we never got to plan our original wedding. It's a long story but the original included the melodrama of my mother buying my gown without my input, choosing my flowers, etc. So, DH and I finally had the wedding of our dreams and it was full-blown, so it might not be what you are looking for. The link to my PJ is in my signature, but you might be looking for something a bit less like a wedding. Have fun planning!!
