Hi Everyone!

Well, we did it. We put our deposit down for the 2010 Christmas cruise! Woo! :cool1::banana:

Since this cruise is about 5 months before our 10th wedding anniversary my hubby and I were thinking about maybe having our vows renewed. I think it would be really romantic and special to do this on a cruise ship with our 5 year old daughter standing beside us.

Has anyone on the board done this or know if this is even possible? Would the captain of the ship do it or is there another crew member who would do it? Plus, would something like this cost a ton of money?

Thanks everyone!

Michelle

I looked into it. If I remember right, it was going to cost something like $1500. I think dinner at Palos was part of it as well.

I wonder if you can make arrangements on your own off the ship when you are at one of the ports. $1500 just to do a vow renewal seems excessive.

If your going on the western I would recommend The Grand Old House in Grand Cayman. My wife and I did this for our ten year last October and it was much cheaper and the people there were wonderful.

It was approx $1500 on the ship or double that if you managed to get Castaway Cay.

You don't need to spend that kid of money to renew your vows. Just do it yourself, order some champagne and take yourself to deck 7 secret deck. Just you two and renew your vows with each other. You may be able to book Shutters photographers to take photos for you. Order a celebration cake for the day you choose. It will certainly cost a lot less than $1500 (save the rest for one of the deluxe villas for 2 and other things!)

There is someone on our cruise meet (Dec 10 Wonder) who is doing a vow renewal during the cruise. You might try contacting her.

Wow, thank you all so much for your help. I had no idea it would be 1500 for something like that. I can understand for a wedding but for a vow renewal I think some of your ideas are much better for us. What is Deck 7 and why is it secret?

I really can't thank you enough for the info. I hope I don't end up annoying you all with all my questions for the next year!

We were married in the courthouse so the VR was our wedding.

You do get perks such as Conceirge service ( I got to book all my excursions, spa and Palo at 105 day mark) I got a beach bag with 2 full length waffle robes embroidered with "Disney Fairy Tale Wedding"

DFTW also has a corrdinator who helps plan everything..She arranged our Palo reception in the private room and arranged the cake to be set up in there.

We even got a bridge tour!

It does seem like a lot of money and my sister didn't do it for her 20th for the same reason..it was just her and her husband. Since this was my only wedding, $1500 was a steal! We had a large group of friends we met on the 2005 Magic and they all came and 2 were my bridesmaids

Oh oh oh! That's me!! :lmao:

We are doing our 10th Vow Renewal on Castaway Cay. We have 18 people total, including us, for the trip so far. Possibly more as we get closer. We are arranging a private dinner for the adults in Palo the night of the VR also.

I'm not going to say that the price isn't an issue, but it is, really it is. :rotfl: But dh and i were really just kids 10 years ago when we got married. We had NO IDEA what a marriage was, and I think, in today's society, making it this far is something that needs to be celebrated. Our children are going to be part of the ceremony too, so not only are we renewing our commitment to each other, we are letting our children know that we are commited to being a family too! Standing on the beach on CC with the sand in our toes and the waves slapping the shore....that is just sooo us! It's going to be an absolutely magical day! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Betsy,

What are the perks for concerige service and how do I know if we are catagorized as that???

We got a chance to do a VR for our 10th and the ceremony was actually by chance "On Our True Anniversary". It was amazing..... We did ours before the price went up though. We paid $1000 and I feel it was soooo worth it. We had our kids there this time :rotfl: and some dear family and friends. It looks as if they covered everything for you, but to me it was worth it. They have actually changed the package somewhat for the better. We had to pay $500 additional for our photographer and did not get a CD with all of the pictures. So now you get a little bit more. The little gifts and the concerige was so special. You get an special trading pin too that you can not buy anywhere. "Only for Disney Brides." The ceremony is done by the Capt. which is a legal ceremony then.... The CAKE was to die for. The other little speical things that "appear" in your SR is soooo Magical... I say if you have the money go for it..... I would do it again in a heartbeat.... We did not go over the 10 people limit though. So it was not a lot over the base price. The only sad thing was that my flowers were soooo beautiful and to have to leave them on the ship made me sad.... It is a customs thing, not DCL; but I sure would have looove to keep them... My SRH (Who has been my all time favorite in all of our cruises) took most of them apart and placed them all over the bed and floor at turn down, so I guess thoses memories were soooo special. If I can find the memory card of our room that night, I will post them.... Truly just as memorable as my 1st wedding.

If you have signed up for a wedding or VR on the ship and this has been reflected on your invoice :lmao::lmao: you are "signed up for that". The other concerige service are people in cat. 1, 2 or 3. Other than that, just the bride/groom party. Also know that if you are a bride/groom; they will make any reservation happen for you ;) :ssst:. Now that was Magic.... :flower3: Thanks Jonathan... we loooove you...

I see your cake topper in the picture. We got the same one. It is in our living room too. We got the same robes, but they do not fit, so we use them when gues visit from out of town and stay over night. They are pretty though. They bought the top layer of our cake to dinner that night for dessert. We choose not to do Palo that night and did Brunch on our anniversary instead. We were traveling with some people we wanted to do dinner with and we wanted to do dinner with our kids. That night was our Luminer rotation and it was semi-formal night so it was soooooo special.....:cloud9: Oh, BTW, they will arrange to make any spa and beauty appointments too.:)

The photographer is not included in the package, but they have a VR photo package for $175 that includes the photographer, 30 odd shots and frame

We changed our cake to almond flavored and I would LOVE to have another piece!

We were all allowed to bring our floral off.. I think US Customs changed the rules ...if they are cut flowers you can take them off..if it is a plant in soil, you must leave it at the port

The robe is HUGE but I love it!

I think the "Cheri and Johnna" in your signature are MY Cheri and Johnna..they were on our cruise and Cheri was my bridesmaid!:lovestruc

then.... The CAKE was to die for. The other little speical things that "appear" in your SR is soooo Magical... I.

Now this is where it gets interesting...what magical little things??? I'm so not good with secrets, or waiting...LOL
