When I called WDW to make travel arrangements, they asked if I wanted to do meal vouchers. When I asked about them, the man told me they were dollar for dollar and didn't save me any money, just convience. So I didn't purchase any. But looking at this board I am thinking maybe he was wrong? So if we do Goofys or Surfs Up, I should do a voucher to safe money? Where is the best place to get those? Thanks!

By the way, you are sooooooo helpful! I have gotten so much help here!

Hi ~ you can purchase vouchers from ARES - *click character experiences ~ http://arestravel.com/77_DisneylandResort.html *but only for Ariel's & Goofy's, this was a recent change (but those are the only 2 where vouchers will save $$) there's also GAT - under Step 4 select Dining ~ http://arestravel.com/77_DisneylandResort.html *Premium is Goofy's & Ariel's *Regular is the others. Another way to budget or "pre-pay" for meals is to purchase Disney Gift Cards *they ship for free* https://tickets.disney.go.com/buy/T...wtbjyX1JNqm2RYqU41yNIgAIeIiRK2oKPx3IWWxP2YrM= and here ~ http://www.disneystore.com/gift-cards/c/305800/

**Remember the vouchers include tax & tip ~ when you ask for the price when your on the phone with disney dining they only give you the price that doesn't include tax & tip. Goofy's Kitchen dinner for 2 A & 2 K with the 10% AP discount was $105 after tax & tip.

So the vouchers from ARES include tip and tax? For 2A, 3C it is cheaper to do the vouchers than 10% dicount from AAA (since I'd have to pay tax and tip)?

i am buying them but i have used them twice now. yes they save you some money an alot of convince. You give them the voucher an it pays for the meal. im getting 4 day meal plan. it will have 3 i think character meals an one premium meal pulse 2 15 dollar tickets an 3 or 4 snacks. I like them because i pay for food all at once. to each there own. get away today is good if you only want one or two of the meal vouchers for character meals. good luck

I think the vouchers you were told were dollar for dollar is the meal plan vouchers through Disney. These are totally different than the ones from ARES which are specifically for character meals. If you don't have an AP, Disney Visa or AAA (although I had heard they weren't accepting AAA discounts anymore) then it will definitely be cheaper to do the ARES vouchers unless you are going to Minnie's or maybe ordering off the menu at Storytellers. I'd compare prices before making the purchase.

I looked into buying vouchers as well but it seemed you're only saving if you buy for dinner, not for breakfast/lunch. Any thoughts?

It depends on where you go. If you don't have another discount (AP, etc) they were cheaper for Ariels lunch last September, GK brunch, not sure about Storytellers buffet at GCH or the new Mickey's breakfast at PPH. They are definitely not cheaper if you are going to Minnies or ordering off the menu at Storytellers.

Thanks for replying. We are definitely doing Goofy's Kitchen brunch.. but I only saw vouchers for the dinner. Where do they offer vouchers for breakfast/lunch? We are thinking of Ariel's and possibly Storytellers. But again, I only saw vouchers for dinners? Am I looking at the wrong site? Thansk.

I'm so confused by the vouchers! Does anyone know if tax and tip is covered by the vouchers bought from Flight Centre? For 2 adults and 1 child it was $84 for the voucher.

Getawaytoday.com has premium vs. regular character dining. Premium is GK and Ariels (any meal). I'm guessing regular is everything else.

ARES travel only has Ariels or GK (good for any meal).

They've changed this since we did this last year.

I plan on buying the vouchers for Ariel's Grotto in DCA but how does it apply when you have a large party? I already made priority seating arrangements for a party of 15. Will we have to pay an additional amount for a "large party" gratuity rate? I forgot to ask when I called.

I had no idea about these vouchers and I'm glad I check the boards first. We are going for my daughters 3rd birthday! :goodvibes

I looked at the lastminutetravel.com and arestravel vouchers and they were*maybe* $2 per person diff the other day. It seems like a lot of hassle - exchanging voucher, printing email, worrying and possible follow up. Plus if our plans change at last minute or if someone gets ill we'd be stuck.
I'd do it if the savings were significant - but they didn't seem to be for my dates.

Thanks for explaining. It still does not seem worth it for brunch; but I will get it for dinner. We'll see. :confused3
