Can someone please answer me?

He baits you and you respond, do you think it will change his mind or his opinions?

It's human nature Robin. If a poodle keeps snapping at your ankles, you are finally going to get annoyed enough to smack it.:D

I don't feel like I can control what anyone does, just my reaction to them.

I do agree, it is human nature but restraint is a good thing. :teeth:

Florida restores thousands of felons' rights
Friday, June 18, 2004 Posted: 11:48 AM EDT (1548 GMT)

Florida is one of six states that does not automatically restore civil rights to people who have completed their sentence on a felony conviction.

Gee...I wonder what the other five states are. It's only being "broadcast" in FL because of the 2000 election. Sounds like five other states could potentially have the same problem.

I respond toihim very rarely these day (hes just not worth the time), but out and out propanganda like this should be refuted lest someone actually beleive it.

Me thinks his big brother is helping him pirate: [/B]

You have a few months before the election to get your patter down......so just so you know....that would be "his little brother........."

I'm glad to see so many people concerned with voters rights !!!

Just remember that Gov. Jeb won Florida in 2000 with the narrowest of margins -- 537 votes.

Personal attacks aren't very nice folks :(

Gov. Jeb Bush wasn't running for office in 2000.

And I don't remember him winning by such a small margin....where did you get that fact from...would love to see the link please.

This is what I thought.

Have faith in people, WDWHound, people have more sense than you think. Did your feelings change because of what you read? Then what makes you think that others are so dim that they won't do their own research?

Shouts of "you're WRONG" only fuels these types of threads.

The CB moves fast. If you don't like something it will disappear QUICKLY but NOT if you reply to it.

I'm sorry but I am so amazed by this.

State election officials have come under intense criticism over efforts to purge voter rolls since the 2000 presidential election, when Florida turned the entire presidential race for Republican Gov. Jeb Bush's brother George by the slimmest of historical margins -- 537 votes.

Yeah but it doesn't mean the truth goes away ;)

You had the two brother's confused...you orignally said Gov. Bush...not President Bush. Which btw has nothing to do with your orginal post of former criminals and their voting rights.

Sorry i did make a mistake  - but theres still 1600 voters unable to vote.

Hmmm...it's going to be fixed and if they hadn't commited a crime that took away their right to vote to begin with there would be nothing to worry about. I've moved several times in Florida basically in the same town, but I always made sure when I moved I filled out the proper paperwork and knew where I was suppose to vote. IF they are able to have the privledge to vote back, then if they really wanted to vote they would also need to make sure it's taken care of. Have someone take responsibilty for themselves, what a concept, instead of blaming everyone else all the time. Sounds like the state of Florida is trying to fix it. Don't think they would want to have another repeat of what happened in the last presidential election. They've been doing a lot to fix what when wrong last time, but of course that only makes the local news, not the national new.

And the more coverage you get about things like this - the more hope you have of people coming out - checking they can vote and voting ::yes::

Liberals are always screaming about preventing
vote fraud -- but we're betting they're not willing to
put their money where their mouth is on this bill.

Rep. Henry Hyde (R-IL) recently introduced legislation
to curb voting fraud by requiring voters to provide
current and official photo identification when voting
in federal elections. In addition, his legislation
would require states to verify that potential voters
are U.S. citizens before adding people to their voter
rolls in order to prevent federal elections from being
manipulated by illegal voters.

Specifically, the Federal Election Integrity Act of
2004 (HR 4530) would amend the National Voter Registration
Act of 1993 (also known as the Motor Voter bill) to
require any individual who desires to register or re-
register to vote in an election for federal office to
provide the appropriate state election official with
proof that the individual is a citizen of the United
States to prevent fraud in federal elections. Official
proof will include a U.S. birth certificate,
naturalization card or U.S. passport. The legislation
would affect the fall 2004 federal elections.

Remarking about the bill, Hyde said: "The U.S.
Constitution clearly states that only U.S. citizens
may vote in federal elections. My bill would amend
the 1993 Motor Voter bill to require states to demand
proof of citizenship when a person applies for voter
registration, even if they have previously been on the
voter rolls at another location. There will be no
exceptions. My bill also would require photo I.D. to
be presented when registering to vote or voting at the
polls."

____________________________________________________

The above bill (HR 4530) will be strongly opposed by Democrats(liberals). We all know the usual excuses they will make, such as discrimination, intimidation, etc.. Voting is one of our most precious rights, so lets make each vote be legal and mean something.

I would say voting is more important than getting on an airplane and you have to show a picture ID to board a plane. To cash a check, an ID is required. With the technology we now have "dead people", illegals and people voting more than once, should not happen. We know about the allegations in 1960 that JFK-Johnson won in Illinois with a "little" help from the Daley political machine in Chicago. In the same election it was said that a precinct in Texas had 300 more votes cast than they had people registered. The stories go on and on. Lets make each vote count and be legal.

I'm all for it Gary M. In fact, I'm going to email my Representatives to inform them to vote for it.
