OK... so we did the free dining plan last year and it worked well for our family. It was actually a little too much food for us (go figure). So I'm curious... if you are going to take advantage of a dining plan this year, which one will it be?

I believe the Quick (Counter) Service will be our choice this year.

Thanks for voting :thumbsup2 And Happy New Year!

We're Disney newbies, and my husband and I generally go all-inclusive (we're Sandals Signature Guests). So we wanted no-muss, no-fuss, and not have to think twice about spending on meals. We want this trip to have as much magic as possible for our kids.

We did the Deluxe this time. If (when) we return next time, we'll base our choice on how we feel about the use of our credits.

We're foodies though ... we like good food and a lot of choices. So I think we made the right choice this time.

I couldn't even imagine trying to eat that much food in a day at Disney! :rotfl: I certainly hope it works out well for your family!

What's the quick service dining plan? We've never used a plan in the past. We like to eat when we want to without having to be a t a certain place at a certain time.

From what I have read, the quick service dining plan consists of 2 quick services meals a day, two snacks, and a refillable resort mug. That gives you freedom to eat when you want, but not at table service meals.....

I am holding out for the free dining this year. I had the ddp last year and I LOVED it. we got to try restaurants we normally wouldnt have eaten at. I cant wait to do it again!!!

I had free dining in September. I didn't really care for the DDP. I don't always want a dessert with my meals, I'm not much of a sweet eater. I also usually drink water when I eat (which is usually free) so I was wasting the drink portion of my credit. It was good to experience though, and made me go to restaurants I wouldn't have considered if I were paying OOP.

We did have snack credits remaining, and I think an extra QS meal too. It was so hot, I really couldn't eat that much.

Overall, I'd do it again with Free Dining, but I won't go back in September because of the heat.

I think I can spend the same/less even with TS meals OOP. The DDP is too limiting (no ap, always having a dessert, no adult drinks, still paying the tip) for me. I think I could budget the money better. The only pro to the DDP to me is that it is paid in advance.

I just did the math with the meals we wanted to go to, and factoring in the snacks we don't want to do without, CS meals we don't want to go without, groceries, and the rental car/delivery fee, it's just more sensible for us to pay for the dining plan. We'd gotten the free dining, and then free dining upgraded to deluxe, and the deluxe was just too time consuming. It'd have been wonderful if we could have teleported to each restaurant! :rotfl2:

We are doing the regular dining plan again. We did it in 2006 and though it was alot of food, it is still cheaper for us since we will be doing alot of the character meals.

We are doing the Quick Service this time as we go often and this time we decided not to have to plan the trip around our meals:thumbsup2

Quick Service for this year. It will be kind of nice not making a bunch of ADRs. We don't need a bunch of table service meals anyway with the kids.

I am looking forward to the two snacks-snacks are my favorite.:thumbsup2

We booked the bounceback for this September. We have upgraded to the Deluxe plan. It is a lot of food, but it's great not to have to worry about food/snacks.

We plan on returning this September, so I hope free dining will be available, but if not then will probably go with the regular dining plan. It was a pain, I have to admit, to have to plan around all the ADRs, but the sit down restaurants were the way to go and actually making the plans ahead of time with the kids was better for us since we knew exactly when we were going to eat and where which saved time and definately money in the long run :) Plus we got to do the character meals and try the restaurants that we probably would not have gone to if we had to "pay" out of pocket....yeah, Le Celliar...best scallops ever!!!!

We always get the Original plan no matter what, if we go when it is free or pay for it. Plenty of food for all of us and makes the trip soo much easier;)

We are doing the regular dining plan again in April, not to save money mind you ( we could eat for alot less) but for the ease of pre-paying and to be able to enjoy places that we would normally not go to. If I have to pay out of pocket my wallet is like a steel trap not wanting to open, my mind tries to justify the spending ( how cheap can I be) but pre-paying then it becomes a fun time not worried about what I am going to spend because guess what I spent that money long ago now its time to enjoy myself!:cool1:

We're going without the dining plan. Our October trip we'll be mainly offsite so it wasn't really an option anyways, but based on the way DH and I like to eat, appetizer, meal, no desert, most of the time. The original plan saves us no money, and we don't want to do the Deluxe with an infant and a toddler, way to much sitting there. So we'll just pay out of pocket, since it won't cost us anymore then the dining plan and gives us a lot more flexibility.

I have to completely agree with you, Poohbug. No ADRs, and another snack. That's exactly what we were looking for.

I loved the dining plan because everything was prepaid except for tips. We like to have one table service meal each day (usually a character buffet for dd). But I have only ever gotten it free, I am not sure if I would get the ddp if we weren't there for free dining.:confused3

I was looking at the Quick Service plan after hearing about it here, but at $30 a person I don't think it's a deal.
