Volunteer Question

Hi all! I just registered to Volunteer for Everest. I'd been checking every day, went out of town for a few days, came back and there's already a waitlist. Yikes!

So question is, anyone know how often someone on the waitlist gets to volunteer? And if you are on a waitlist and get to volunteer, do you get to choose where you volunteer?

That same thing happened to me last year. We wanted to volunteer at the Wine and Dine half marathon. I kept checking, then I missed a few days and when I checked again, it was on waitlist already. My dh and I signed up on the waitlist, but they did not need us.

They did send me an email that I could sign up to volunteer for the marathon weekend in Jan, but we were not going to be going to Disney at that time.

I was waitlisted for Marathon Weekend 2014 (I wasn't checking as regularly as I should have, and was a week or so late). I did make it off the list, albeit at a water stop at mile 12.3, which I could guess is one of the least desired shifts as it is one of the longest besides for medals. It was really fun, though. The notification was a little odd - I just got my credentials in the mail as if I was never on a waitlist.
