I've read where you can stand at the bottom of the slide to catch young children, but will they allow you to go down together?? Thanks!

No they will not let you go down together. I was just there a few weeks ago and we hung out at the pool daily. The lifeguard was telling anyone that came down with their kid not to do it again of they would have to leave the pool. They are really strict with this. You can stand to the side and catch your child when you see him but you have to be fast. They won't let you stand in front of the slide so that you can get them before they go into the water. The child will have to hit the water first before you will be able to get them.

It must depend on the lifeguard. Last time we were there, they didn't let anyone stand at the bottom of the slide to catch their children. The parents had to be several feet away.

You can go to the marina nearby and get a PFD vest for your child for free that they can wear on the slide. Our then 3 YO had no problem with the slide. I stayed about 10 feet back from the bottom of the slide and it wasn't an issue.

That's what I said. You cannot stand in front of the slide. You have to stand to the side and then once the child hits the water you can grab them.

They weren't letting parents stand to the side either. There were 3-4 parents standing to the side and the lifeguards made them move.

Oh that is strange. The lifeguard let the parents stand a few feet to the side of the slide when I was there. Once the kid hit the water the parent jumped over and caught them. The first time I ever went down a resort slide was at the WL 2 years ago. I made the mistake of taking my then 2 y/o on my lap. I didn't know you couldn't do it at the time and figured since you can in other swimming pool slides then it must be okay. I mean it never entered my mind that it was a no no. DD and I came down the slide and it was really fun until the lifeguard started whistling and whistling. I thought it was at somene else until she got that bullhorn out and pointed and saying YOU! And then she read me the riot act about sliding like that. Everyone was staring at me! How embarrassing! :(

It is my understanding that you must be able to "exit the pool unassisted" in order to use any of the resort slides. As with anything I think the enforcement of said rule is to varying degrees. When we were at the Polynesian this did not seem to be an issue. However, this past weekend at Yacht Club, the lifeguards at SAB were VERY strict on not standing in front of the slide -- even as much as 10 feet away. I had come down before my 7 year old (who is an excellent swimmer) but I wanted to see his reaction to the slide. The lifeguard asked me to move, which I did without complaint. They went on to explain very nicely that adults have collided because when they come down they are obviously moving more rapidly and shoot out further. This has caused some injurys.
