My daughters are considering Volcano Bay on a day this winter when our APs are blocked. We're from a northern state, and they've done Universal water rides at 60 degrees and swam in our local pool when it was 60 and raining in July. We never manage to get to VB and it's a bucket list item for them.
It would be a Saturday when VB is scheduled to be open, but I know weather closures are possible. With all the data that's available, is there a list of historical closures anywhere? I read that it's weather + expected crowds. What are the odds on a busy Saturday in December? Yes, I know it's just odds, not a guarantee. Any day *could* be freezing. Will they have plenty of notice typically?
If they buy tickets ahead of time, can they get a refund? That would be the only day they would be able to go to the parks during the holiday blockouts. At worst could they convert their tickets to another park?
