48 inch maximum? How strict are they being. Are they really not going to let my 6 year old in because she is too tall? That would be so sad!

Not sure but Disney water parks have the same requirement in their kids play areas - I don't think Aquatica states a maximum for Walkabout Waters but they do for Kookaburra Cove and it is enforced...on the slides at least.

I went today, at least when we left around 2pm, the tot-tiki and runamucka reef areas weren't open (they promised sometime today though) along with the slower lazy river. The wave pool was blocked by today show and promo filming until about 11AM. The only kid friendly area was the leisure pool next to the OhNo OhYeah slides. Took my 2 year old daughter into the leisure pool which she had a blast with, I did the fast river (which wasn't really that fast, I think not all the wave generators were working) and the OhNo slide, which drops you at the end. She wanted to do the tot-tiki area quite badly, but it wasn't quite done. I think they are more strict about the height limit to keep the younger ones from getting steamrolled, parents can join as far as I could tell.

The park is beautiful, but not 100% complete. We still had fun, but went to guest services and they gave us $100 in gift cards to use on a future visit since 3 of the main things for my daughter weren't even working. (and some of the other rides were on/off during the day) We only had a half day to go today (AP holder) but will try again in a few weeks. Once the kinks get worked out this place will be awesome. We did get in the wave pool it cycles through different types of waves based on the rotating symbol just to the left of the Volcano.

The toddler tot tiki reef area has a 48" maximum there is a kids area runamaka reef where your kid can play. I do hope they enforce the height limit in the toddler area there is not much for toddlers to do and it's a little annoying to see big kids in the toddler areas.

I agree with the toddler area, I remember those days. I was just concerned about that beautiful play structure. Thanks for all the info. I have about a thousand more questions, but I will wait a few days to see what I learn.

According to Orlando Advisor, the Runamukka Reef also has a 48" max.

They have the wrong info this is the description for Runamukka Reef "This play area is for kids of all ages, but if you're looking for something for toddlers and smaller children, check out the Tot Tiki Reef nearby"

Glad to see Universal Guest relations were there to make it up for you! Hoping that things will be a little more ironed out when I go down in two weeks. If not, I'll just be going with the flow.

Where did you see this? Because on Universals website is says only for children under 48" and also I saw a sign that someone took a picture of inside the park that also said the area was only for under 48" I hope they change it because my 5 year old is 49".

On Tim Tracker's video of opening day (YouTube, TheTimTracker) the workers said he was allowed to enter the kiddie area, but could not ride the slides. Not sure if that helps.

If the non toddler area is also 48", that's kind of short. Our local water park is 54" for the kids area. Just because a child is 48", does not mean they are mentally ready for all the rides and would have no slides to do.

We went back this afternoon to check out the kid area since it was closed the first time we went on grand opening day. The toddler area (tot-tiki) had a slide and a few fish squirting water, and that was it. Most of the area wasn't functioning (tikis weren't spitting, no interactive bits, areas that were dry that looked like they shouldn't be). The reef had some slides, but all the interactive things weren't working.

Still a lot of kinks, and a bit disappointing in its current form.
