Voice over IP @ Swan?

We're considering switching our home phone service over to a voice over IP plan. Does anyone have any experience using voice over IP the Disney resorts (particularly the Swan)? It would be most convenient to just bring the home phone along on vacation.....(as long as the telemarketers don't bother us!)

any info appreciated.....

Yes, it could be done but the amount of effort would make it not worth your time. At the minimum, you'd have to bring your laptop and modify it's MAC address to that of your VoIP terminal/phone so that you could have access in your room. You're also going to have to assume that the resort is giving you a real IP address and not a private one and hope that they have all of the correct ports open.

Frankly, unless you're going to stay in the hotel room for the entire stay, I see little value in bringing your VoIP equipment along. Many of the popular services let you check voice mail from any computer with Internet access. That would keep you in touch and the rest could be accomplished with a cheap phone card.
