I am toying with the idea of booking this... but have a few questions..

What is the minimum and the Max people who can dine at the Chef's table..

Can I book for a party of 4 then change it to a party of 6?

Just wondering :-)

Also what is served at the Chef's table.. how does the whole thing work... lol I am an experinced VnA diner, just never did the Chef's table.

Is the cost the same?

Thanks

Been lucky enough to get it twice. Loved it, a lot of fun. Chef Scott asks about allergies, dislikes and such if you want to guide the menu. If you're open to anything, you can just let the chefs do whatever they want. So, FWIW:

Booking: plan to call first thing several days in a row 180 days in advance; took us I think 4 days before we were the 1st ones through the line.
People: believe the max is 10. Once you have the table, it's yours, you can add people I think they just require 24-48 hours notice to add/drop people, maybe more. They will explain it when you book.
Cost: more $. It is a few more courses I think and we had one or two things not served in the dining room that night. Our trip last October was $175; plus $70 for wine pairings.

Woot! I loved the Chef's Table! The dining area is big enough to accommodate the group you want, and the other poster was correct about calling ahead. The reservationists for V&A need the names of the people dining in order to have your personalized menus ready for you. :)

And they are very accommodating about food dislikes and/or allergies. The cool thing about Chef's Table is that you pretty much get to try everything on that night's menu. (Which also explains why it also costs more than the main dining room.) I haven't done this since 2002, but I felt it was a wonderful experience. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Hey Lori!!

Thanks for the booking tips :thumbsup2

Still debating about just booking the normal fare... taking a couple of VnA newbies with me and haven't decided if we should just do the regular menu, or try for the chef's table lol

Here is a link to a very comprehensive and unusual review, with photos, of the Chef's Table. What makes it unusual are the reviewers and their narrations.
