I heard on a podcast that the VMK tour at WDW is closed??

Is this true?

I was hoping to do this next Tuesday on Dec. 13th!!

I was told by the tour gardens that it was only going to be closed during Christmas week. But since then I've been the the Magic Kingdom and the tour is closed. I was there on Friday for the filming of the Christmas parade. If we did the quest they would hand you a bundle of VMK quest cards which included some of the tour cards.

WOW! We just went on the tour on last Tuesday. When we were there, others we met were booking tours for Thursday. If it was closing, they said nothing about it to any of us.

Funny. :confused3

The response was that it was closing around Christmas week, but there
were still tours going on recently.

As for telling people, cast members often suffer from the "left hand not
telling the right hand" syndrome. In other words, some cast members
might know, and others are completely left out of the information loop.

Well I hope it's still running next Tuesday, if not the VMK cards will have to do.

I really would like the semi-VIP treatment by getting to tour the attractions.

I went yesterday (Sunday) and found the tours were canceled for the day due to some filming and extreme parade action throughout the day. They had tours the day before that (Saturday) in which I put off to do on sunday with my group. Oh well.

They still gave up pirate tour packs with a train set and some JC posters, but no gold gamer sets :( .

I ran into VMK tour guide Jeff at WDW who said the tours will be gone before 2006. He also had no clue about the in real life VMK pin.

VMK has been working on an on time schedule if you look at their history. I bet everything has been planned from day 1, from the demise of the tours to the birth of the iPod give away

I was reading the news on VMK home page. I feel frustrated now. Will there or will there not be tours in the future?

"You Talked, We Listened - Tour and More!
In our recent website survey, you told us you'd like to see some changes to the in-Park rewards, including possibly replacing the Tour. We're listening, and we'll be trying out a few other prizes to see how you like them. Stay tuned to this space for more info, and visit Disneyland ® park or the Magic Kingdom ® Park for some great VMK stuff!"

Hi writing from the Disney Wonder. Yeah. My DH and I took the Tour last Thursday Dec. 1, 2005. I asked Ryan that specific question. He said no that it was just a rumour form the internet chat boards. Ryan was our tour guide who is involved in the game somehow. can not remember what. But he was very techinical on the tour. Also did seem to not like adults on the tour. Very nice to kids but adults just seemed to be an annoyance he had to put up with and treat us at least politely. Our tour lasted about 2 hours. So he was very indepth. He reason for the halloween decorations still being left up. Was the game creators where working so hard to get Frontiere land up and going very soon.

Well Time to get ready for the golden mickey's bye for now.

We took the insider tour on Saturday Dec 3 at 12:30. We had Ryan also for a tour guide. He was very knowledgable on vmk and its history. There were more adults on the tour than kids (wearing vmk wristbands by the way), and he seemed to be alright with us. They were filming the Christmas day parade that day, and he mentioned they should not have had the tour that day. Maybe that's why they cancelled the ones on Sunday. The park was very crowded and we had a hard time following him from place to place. It was still very worth it. He did not mention future tours, I guess we should have asked. We really enjoyed it and wouldnt mind going again someday.

Just back from Disney World. Tours are still going on but are booked all the way through the holidays so, if you hope to just show up first thing and book in the morning, this will probably not happen. I had the Hidden Mickey quest coupon and in consolation the Cast Member gave me a nice little packet that included some of the tour cards.

Also, for the Fireworks and Pirate coupons, they are no longer giving the pink Nemo chair and invisibility pin. Instead you get the wristband for the VMK T-Shirt.

The Cast Member I spoke with was one of the Tour Guides and he did not indicate the tour was ending. Just that it was booked solid due to the busy time of year so try again "after the New Year". On one hand I sympathize with the local pass holders who want to go on the tour but on the other, I don't think it is quite fair to allow guests to book ahead since many of us only get down once or twice a year, if that. Perhaps it should be first come first served. Those who have the Hidden Micky coupon for the "free" tour, don't despair. The prize packet they gave in lieu of the tour had the pirate set, two of the safari posters, and the Big Thunder Teleporters.

I tried to take the tour on Saturady at 12:30 but they were saying that they were cancelled. I guess it was just who you talked to. The woman at City Hall said no tours due to filming of the Christmas parade. Bu ttha tis ok got to spend some more time with the group. Did you see alot of puppies at Magic Kingdom on the 3rd?

They better keep it.My mom is going to try to book it sometime after New Years since i finished the quest the last day i was there and we are not sure if they are going to have it or they will let us do it.

We went to WDW for Thanksgiving, and I eagerly made a beeline to VMK Central (sorry, it'll always be the Main Street Cinema), only to be told that the tours were shut down for the Thanksgiving weekend. This really irked me, as there was no mention of this on the VMK site, and I was really glad I hadn't told my DDs (8 and 10) about this, as it really would have gotten their hopes up. As it happened, only MY hopes were dashed. (And my wife was bummed out, too.) They did give me the packet of cards, which was nice (and my whole family got the tour cards after we did all four quests during our visit), but it was still a disappointment.

Then the cast member had the nerve/gumption/well-intentioned thought to suggest that I come back in a few weeks.

Uh huh. That's really not an option for most people who come to WDW.

You know, maybe this really is a sign that the APers are taking over. We don't ALL have APs and live in Celebration! (Well, my wife's friends do, but we live in Illinois...)

Wow, I cant believe they told you there was no tour on Saturday. This was our second try, we went during Thanksgiving week and were told no tours. I approached the cast member in city hall and said, "please tell me you have room on the insider tour today". He disappeared for a long while and I was getting worried. Then he came back and signed us up for the 12:30. I cant believe they told you there were no tours! I spent 30 minutes on the phone the night before trying to make sure they were going to have it. Problem was, the cast members on the phone had no idea what I was talking about ( what is vmk, insider tour???), so after much phone tag, I finally reached city hall and got an answer. I did not notice the puppies on that day, where did you see them?

I was there after Thanksgiving till the 2nd of Dec. I asked about the cards and they said they were just there for everyone to see that they were not giving them out, maybe in a month or two.....did they give out the cards anyhow, if so I am going to be so upset.....

I could not go on the tour only cause I was just on one 30 days before and you only can take one every 90 days..

my next trip is not till April then maybe in October not sure depends on my DVC points and airfare...LOL
