OK so my story for the event was i got back from work, waited in line, got to the front of the line in the room only for HOST_Hula to say she would be back soon, during which time I lost connection. I was not best pleased as the size of the line meant i wouldn't get back in.

So I decided to go to VMK_Babs room today for the combination thing, got in and it was closed, I decided to wait about for a bit to see if staff showed. Host_Hula then turned up asking everyone to leave as the game was closed which was fair enough. But I decided to tell her what happened yesterday. Her reply to this was, get this: "MacLite I have no control of events in VMK". I was like WHAT?! VMK home pages says and i quote: "HOST Staff members plan and host games and events." I then asked her to apologise for going afk yesterday at which point she decided to boot me. I realise I probably shuldn't have asked for an apology but still!

I thought staff were there to help, she wouldn't even listen to me!

Oh well, I have sent my long-winded letter to VMK asking them to sort it out but as yet no response. I can only hope...

i think your letter may have fallen into what others call "the black hole"

Quite possibly, if it has I'll just send it again and again until i get a reply.

That was rude and uncalled for! Yes, write to them every day, over and over until you get the answer you deserve. Use the report a staff member on the drop down menu. That was really mean. Sorry about your experience. I hope it does not happen again.

Wow!!! It sounds like to me HOST_Hula had heard enough and you were the straw that broke the camels back. Still what she did was uncalled for and there should be a level of professionalism from the staff here. I agree do what Green_Mimi says. Let us know how you make out.

I thought MacLite sounded like he was disruptive.

Sorry, but I would have booted him, too. You can't abuse the staff,
especially since some of them did NOT have anything to do with the
planning.

Anyone have proof of HOST_Hula planning or working the event? Then
I might change my opinion. Until then, I think that you can voice your
opinion about how bitter we all were, but don't demand apologies from
those who may not have anything to do with that fiasco.

Hosts are in charge of games and events.
VMK staff (babs) are in charge of moderating...meaning they keep us all in line and make sure we follow the rules...

so she was telling the truth when she said she had no control over the events that happen in VMK.

This is a relatively new change-a couple weeks old, and name changes about a week old.

There's information about it on the main page. :) I also asked one of the staff members about it so if you would like to know more, let me know.

Well, while both sides could have handled it better, HULA should have realized that everyone officially associated with VMK should be at the least apologizing for the event snafus. That doesn't mean that I think HULA or any other individual was personally responsible, but as a collective whole, yeah, it reflects on all of them.
They should all be saying, "I'm sorry for your inconvenience", to every VMK player, in all of their conversations that have to do with the event.

And if HOST_HULA took a break and left a room full of people standing there during the generator game, when they knew we were crashing right and left, well then, I think she should have apologized for not being able to wait until she was relieved by another staff member or host. An apology costs nothing and spreads good will. It sounds like a case of someone trying to hold on to their pride at the expense of the feelings of a player. Sorry, but apologies should be freely given in this instance.

Lori:I'm with you. There is a lot of kvetching on these boards and in VMK about the events. I think that everyone needs to take a deep breath and give the other people a break. Even if HOST_Hula did have something to do with the planning and implementation of the event, she is right: she really has no control. She can't wave her magic HOST wand and make long lines disappear. She can't make the server time-outs and lost connections go away. She can't always get a replacement when she needs to use the bathroom.

McHootle: I know that you are frustrated, but imagine the frustration, kvetching and abuse that is heaped on the heads of the hosts. You added yours and you demanded an apology. And what about all the ungrateful people who are complaining about getting a pumpkin instead of inferno? I'm sure she got a lot of that too. Honestly, I think staff members have the patience of saints. You pushed HOST_Hula at the end of a long event and got booted. I would have booted you too ... but I have too quick of a temper to deal with a bunch of complainers all weekend.

I think that a lot of the frustration does come from past events and how terribly wrong they have turned out.

VMK staff (whether it be the testers or actually staff members) must realize that these events are not turning out well. Because of this, I would think it would be more professional if they stopped all future events until they get the kinks fixed.

IMHO it is not fair to many who get dc'ed after waiting in a long line to get into a ONE room game, or are promised a prize after winning a costume contest (me) only to never receive one- just so a select few can receive prizes. I feel like it is Russian Roulette :(

VMK staff do know more than we do in regards to behind the scenes actions. It would be really nice if they gave us some sort of explinations, or even an apology that is more heartfelt than "sorry your recent experience did not make you 100% happy". Although I am not aware of the circumstances with VMK_Hula going afk...demanding an apology DOES seem a little harsh and you probably said it out of frustration. But he wasn't demanding an apology for the fiasco, just VMK_Hula going afk while making sure things tried to go smoothly in the game room. No, that room should not have been left unattended, I do agree.

I am sure there are many who would say "If you are so upset and frustrated by recent past events, why do you continue to play. Stop playing if you are so unhappy". But is this in fact fair? Not that life is fair, but VMK staff members (programers) set up the actual games. They program them in. They are the ones who understand the inner-workings and there-for it is in their power to correct their past mistakes!

I feel very strongly about this issue. I was so disappointed by the maze event that I stayed away from the generator room.

Can you imagine if you had gone to a park where the line to get into your favorite ride was an hour long? (LOL, oh, that's right, it can be) But imagine further that the ride breaks down just as you are next in line. This happens all day. 15 or so people get to ride and then it is shut down. Every time it shuts down you have to go back to the end of the line and wait another hour. This happens the whole time you are there. Why are you waiting in line over and over? You only have one day in the park and this ride is only open once every month or two. To make matters worse, people coming off the ride are raving about what a wonderful time they had. It was the best ride in the world and so worth the wait!

Now imagine you run into a cast member outside the ride. They need to clear the area. You know she has nothing to do with the problems you are experiencing but you can't help the frustration and whining that leaks out of your voice as you vent. You unreasonably demand an apology. She turns from you and calls, "Security!" You are then thrown out of the park.

I know staff are human. I know that they are not personally responsible for the foul ups but they are PAID representatives of Disney and as such they have a responsibility to be as courteous as possible. Hula could have very simply said, "I am sorry you feel that way but you must leave." Rudeness should never be an option no matter what a player does.

I was simply asking Host_Hula for an apology for leaving the room. I felt it was her fault I did not get to participate as she went afk right before i got my turn. I decided to ask her because she was in the room, I gave her a full account of what happened and she says she has nothing to do with the event. She was the one in the room 'Hosting' the event... Thats what my anger was about. To me that's lying and what this post was about. I think i'm perfectly justified in my actions of asking for an apology. They are hosts, they host events, she was hosting the event i was in and caused me lose out on the oppertunity to play.

BriarRosie, You thought I sounded disruptive? I asked very politely if I could talk with Host_Hula, she said yes but be quick, I explained the situation then got booted. If u call that disruptive that's fine. But I wouldn't call it that.

Anyway, its done now. Host_Hula is not in my good books, end of story.

You're still upset over this?

Dude, it's just a game. It's ok to be angry in the moment. I was angry over
all the time I wasted on the Halloween event because I couldn't get into
the prize machine or the costume judging without getting booted.

But I got over that frustration the day after the event. If you still have
bitterness over this, I think you might need to step back and chill.

Again, it was not made clear by your posts that Hula went afk on purpose
or if she lost connection. I stand by my earlier post that you're taking this
way too seriously.

OK, just to clarify, I didn't have this topic on instant email notification because it was begining to clog my in box. I didn't realise the post got so big... anyway, just needed to respond to all the other people who responded.

And no, i'm not still annoyed about it anymore, just making my views clear ok? :earsboy:

ok that is enough! this thread is 9 months old and should never have been bumped in the first place...Also attacking other members is against DIS board guidelines please remember that there has been way too much of that lately.
