VMK pass in multi-room Host events doesnt work

Just wanted to warn you all so you don't make the mistake I did. I waited in a long queue to get into the room.. then went through the first teleporter into the next room where you pick the next teleporter.. I picked the teleporter that said Some hat trick.. (lol I forget) anyways there was a queue for the room so I got a Vmk pass, waited about another 1/2 hour when it was my turn to enter, it wouldn't let me saying I can't enter this room from this area. So I guess you can't get a vmk pass when entering that room.
Just warning you all so you don't make the same mistake.
