VMK Give me a BREAK! New Pin RANT!

Wow! I can't believe so many people are getting bent out of shape over a FREE pin! Instead I say, "Thanks, VMK!" It was nice of them to give everyone a pin. I think it is completely fair. Ever been to a baseball game and it was "hat day"? I get a hat if I go on THAT day. If I can't go on that day, I guess I don't get a free hat.

You can't sell it? So what! That one little pin is weighing our characters down? The pin is political? I would gladly take flags from other countries than my own. Heck, when I was younger, I would buy the little flags that they sold in every country of Epcot.

I'm just disappointed to see so much boo hooing over this.

You were disappointed to see boo hooing in a rant thread? I opened it for entertainment. Anyway I am thankfull and as I said not surprised by it's status. You make some good obsevational counterpoints to those items of discontent presented in the thread. They did not do it to get us to come visit on "hat day" however, it was to say "have as many as you like...but they stay where we give them" I also can't imagine not wanting the pin but that is a persons right (seemingly) That said I have documented as several in this thread have that as you approach 1000 pins you will begin to have inventory issues and be unable to trade. that doesn't stop me no but to say it has no wieght...it does if you pick up one penny and say supper glue it to your shoe it's nothing but pick up 1000 and glue it to your shoe and you are starting to really weigh down...so as crazy as it may seen we should always be able to dispose of anything we pick up - even if for no credit. Although we would then have compliants about that.

The point by the OP of the thread was this disables us in our ability to assist our friends as we should in such a community. For example you were going to hat day and your friend wanted to go but he couldn't so you pick him up a hat while your there. What a thoughtful thing to do. Before you say they only give one for each ticket holder, this could be that you had an extra ticket already and you get one with that ticket or whoever uses the ticket forfiets their hat for the friend who could not come.

Another point is this pin is in the series that has the VMK logo in the middle. We have had saint patty day, Football, Race, and Valentine. All those pins are trade able. Why is this one so different? ST Patty and Valentine was one day to get. I know that some of these pins were obtainable in different ways but there is Just no consistency in VMK. Just plain crazy that they are not trade able. For the record I think the New Years calender pin should be trade able just plain silly it is not!

You may not get the free hat at the baseball game, but nothing is stopping you from getting it from someone who attends the game or by "trading" for it (in other words, buying it from someone else). So this isn't a great comparison. Yes, it's nice that VMK is giving away a free pin...but some of us feel it's not right to not let us do with the pin as we please.

I would gladly take flags from other countries too, however that hasn't been an option.
I, personally, don't really see it as a political statement. Heck, Main Street is a fantasy version of the American small town (specifically Marceline, MO). That said, it's not really decent to laugh just because someone does view it as a political statement.

Well the thread did clearly indicate it was a rant...so it should be expected that within the thread, there would be ranting.

Sorry, but I dont get it, I mean VMK is american so why would you dont like that pin ? I am not american, I have a USA flag pin on VMK but I dont care .. I mean I play an american game so i accept that (I would probably not accept other things I am thinking of though but not for the pin) and I dont see why it is lame that it is not sellable except that it is not tradeable ..

Ok maybe your message is in the sense of the fact that it is taking place but one pin amongst a bunch of pins wont really change things ..

Hi Key! I did not mean my post as other than a rant about VMK's inconsistency and a new feature to that inconsistency. Being forced to take something you cannot get rid of, just so you can play the game on a certain day. Doesn't matter what it is. Just happens it is an American flag pin.

Personally I do want it and will wear it proudly! But when the time comes to take it off the lanyard for another.. I would like to be able to choose what to do with it. Move it to a clone, trade it or sell it. But I will not have any of those choices.

In my case, it goes to what AdventureDaz points out in his post. Because it is a pin, and not removable in any fashion from our inventory, those of us that have trouble trading, due to the volume of pins and clothing we cannot take out of inventory.. it just adds another "weight" to an already existing problem.

True true.. But i like to have a pin to remember how long i've been with vmk so i guess this is just a forced-upon way of letting us know where we were July 4th, 2007..

I'd perfer to be able to buy it tho so i could buy two or three then trade the extras or give them as prizes but oh well.. What can u really do with a pin that's just gonna be There.. lol

I just want to put the cherry on the sundae and say, I think being forced to keep this pin in my inventory is reprehensible on VMK's part, specially since we will have NO Hosts pins this month

I agree, I wanted to give my friend (cinnamendewdrop) my pin because, she's out of town for the holidays and she really wanted one I was shocked to find out it wasn't trade-able..

So much for me posting my first trade thread of the year. I was barely home today and the few minutes I might have logged on my girls were both on. At least they got it. I spent the past hour getting them packed for an unexpected weekend away and came downstairs to log on at what time??? 11:57 I really liked it too.

Aww! Hugs, Car! If I could give you one, I would. I did log in a few a my characters so that I would have extras on the off chance that they might someday be tradeable. But we all know how that goes, don't we?

This is all incredibly frustrating to me too because Rollercoastergal is out of town and I promised her five of each item. So I dutifully went through a large number of my mules, went to trade the items to my main character, only to find that.. gasp, the pins are nontradeable?!?!?!? ARG VMK! yes I appreciate that they are free, but still... Many people take vacations around this time. It's not that they don't want to get on VMK, but are unable to. Hopefully down the road, they'll change them to tradeable. Hey Disney is all about wishing and dreaming, right? LOL

I agree and disagree with this thread.
Personally, I considered it a privilege for those who could log on
- I was busy all yesterday, but took out a few minutes to log on and receive my pin. Although not everyone could log on its not the fault of VMK- the Staff were working on the holiday, so can't we cut them a break there?

Anyways... Thank you VMK for a great day, and although I couldnt stay on for more than 5 minutes I truly enjoyed seeing pictures of the ride rooms! They were amazing.. props to you

It's pretty obvious to me why they aren't tradeable. They are preventing people who have multiple characters (like a lot of people here, including myself) from stocking up on something free and using it to their advantage against people who weren't able to log on a specific day. Personally, I wish it just would of been a buyable. I would rather buy something that is tradeable then get something for free that isn't. Just my 2 cents! (Hey, where did the cent sign go on my keyboard!)

If that were the case, then why not make any host quest item that way as well? Those are free if you answer a few questions and do a couple of tasks correctly and people log on with their mules to load up on those as well. But those are tradeable.
