VMK Explains the DREAM Promtion in More details

Crazy how they specifically say don't fill up rooms like Tiki Island and Main Street... It's not like there's a line out the door for every single Tiki Island and Main Street room!! :rotfl:

you can sell the dream ears for 10 credits. I have two of them now, would love to give them away to a friend that doesn't have them yet but I can't, so they just sit in my inventory. :sad2: I sure as heck aren't selling it! :lmao:

Only 10 credits! What a shame...

Flashforward 3 years... DazzleMagic: "I've still got my two Dream Ears, can't trade 'em... but I ain't sellin'! I ain't!"

:rotfl:  :rotfl:

:goodvibes

:lmao: well, not for 10 credits. maybe in 3 years they'll be worth more! :rolleyes1

Well after a few days of this dream event I am just going to play the game like I always do. I really do not expect to get anything and as I am off to Disney on the 14th of September that makes the chances even slimer.

But Instead a getting sad does it really matter if I do not get dream ears. Is that any different then never winning sparrow, stitch hat, inferno. All of which a kind person has and is lending me use :)

I would love the castle room but is it any different than building rooms from day one and never getting a staff to see any of them; so no Club 33 party to win.

I will continue to do my quiet kind things on VMK. And if by some miraculous act I do win something I will be so so happy. But if I do not ,not much has change. Except the few hundred that did not win anything, then we will be the rare people hehe.

I just feel sorry for the casual VMK player... I have some friends who play regularlly because they like Disney and they enjoy "collecting" Disney stuff (and they liked the In Park Quests, but alas...). But when I say casually I mean they get on just enough to get their Dailies and then maybe another hour or so a week to play some mini-games for more credits. They usually buy one of each item that comes out and try to complete each quest, etc. VMK isn't their life, but it is something they do enjoy! This type of player is highly unlikely to get rewarded by the Dreams month. And yet they are the perfect player for Disney... They use the game the least (ie don't cost VMK much in resources), but enough to consistantly be thinking about Disney (the goal of any advertising/promotion).

Should VMK addicts, uh I mean zealots, no uh ... Devout Players (yeah, that's it) who play 3+ hours every day... (You know... the people who live on VMK?) Should they get extra rewards for their ... ahem ... game loyalty? Sure! But that doesn't mean the other should be neglected entirely.

Yeah, I feel the exact same way. That's a very good point, and very disappointing.

I am off to Disney on the 14th of September

Wow, maybe I'll see you there :thumbsup2

actually there was on the first 2 days of the event LOL

Quick FYI:

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but since we were talking about the sell-back price of the Dream Ears, I wanted to mention that the Dreams Castle Suite is NOT sellable, even for zero credits. A message pops up saying that this type of room isn't sellable. (NOT THAT ANY OF US WOULD TRULY TRY TO SELL IT!!)

Additionally, the Castle Suite Sofa and the Castle Suite Fireplace have a sell-back value of 50 credits each. At least they did Sunday.

Just posting in case anyone's interested. Back to discussion!:surfweb:

I really hope the ears will be tradeable after the month is over. I have two pairs of the ears, and it sort of bugs me that I can't give one away. I understand why they're not tradeable now, but at least they should be tradeable after the month ends. :headache:

Why isn't HOST_Sparky on the list? :( Poor Sparky. A kid in VMK just said that he got ears from Sparky, but AFTER the Dreams time.
Anyone else got info?

Sparky is the one that does room makeovers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, in his own way he has been giving out dreams for a while.

Yes, the dreams and any other items that are duplicates should be tradeable for nothing. Make it that the item can only be given for nothing in return. Wow, such a novel idea - letting people perform a random act of kindness. Now that is Disney Magic!!! :thumbsup2

I feel bad for the kids that just returned to school and do not have the time to sit on VMK and wait for a dream. I sure would like a dream but it would be more fun to see my children get a dream on VMK.

Congrats to all people who have won your dreams.

Yea a friend of mine was in the room when Host Sparky came in and handed out ears way after the official dream time ended.

Just wondering, what happens if you are afk and a host comes into the room and gives out prizes, will you get a prize or do you have to acknowledge that you are really there?

You would still get the prize even though you weren't there :)

I agree with that 100%. However, this looks like a very good idea. Let's see if it holds up :)

Yeah especially with the late times, at least for those of us on EST a lot of kids probably aren't able to get on and wait. I have my daughter's character loaded and I'm hoping she gets a dream. I'd much rather it be her than me. It's so hard for the younger kids and that's why I'm not liking how this dream month is going. I think it would be nice if everyone could at least win one dream with the opportunity to win more. We are going to have a lot of upset and sad kids wanting to quit if they don't win something by the end of the month.

And as the Ears are one of the most sought after, it would be logical for one friend to gift the spare ears to the second, with the second being overwhelmed with gratitude.

Isn't that what this month is about? :grouphug:

If what they are doing is giving everyone a chance to be "Dreamed" the items, maybe they should make the ears tradeable AFTER this month. That sounds like a healthy compromise. :thumbsup2
You never know, this could be exactly what they are doing. On day 1 I saw someone offer a stitch hat for the dream ears before they realized they were not tradeable. They could be trying to prevent that from happening knowing they are giving so many away are trying to avoid the hurt feelings for people paying to much early on. At the end of the month, the market is flooded, and if they open it up to trade, the trade value wont skyrocket to inferno off the bat.
I have to agree with this. I have a feeling they will be trade able next month. VMK is trying to cut the scamming down. They would get so many calls for help if people traded a ton of stuff for ears and got them the next day. I really hope when this is done that they have it in their hearts to allow us to trade the items. That would be a nice dream to all...

I feel the same as Pirate that it would be nice if someone was able to gift their Dream item to a friend. That seems very Dreamy to me.
Exactly what I've been thinking, all of you. However I can think of another possible reason VMK hasn't made the items tradeable yet; to prevent VMK from being flooded with mules, by players trying to increase their chances by placing characters in multiple spots.

I was thinking the same thing today; that the items should be "giftable" rather than "tradeable".
There are people who don't play VMK enough to sit in rooms for hours on end hoping to get a random visit. There really should be some way (quest, etc) that we can get items ourselves on our time . Not on VMK's Random time.....I just feel sorry for the casual VMK player... I have some friends who play regularlly because they like Disney and they enjoy "collecting" Disney stuff (and they liked the In Park Quests, but alas...). Way too true. I hope VMK eventually puts these items on sale or releases them through a quest.

I think this promotion is especially hard on the kids, and that's where the comparison to the parks promotion breaks down.

VMK is geared for 8-12 year old players, who can't simply be treated the same way that guests would be at the park. There's a big difference between awarding (or passing over) children who are there with their families, and doing the same thing in a game, where winning or not winning has a much more direct effect on them. "Random" prizes are especially frustrating to kids who want to have some control over what they can achieve in VMK.

Belle, so you are off to celebrate my birthday at Disney World! How sweet of you!

Just messing around with you. I hope you win a real dream while there. I've won many of the dreams items via sending in for my family, but when we were there last December, didn't see anyone actually win anything. I do hope that one of us VMK DIS'ers get something good while there.

Have fun while there. Maybe wish me a happy birthday in your head while watching Wishes that night????
