VMK Down after I got DC'd??

I don't know if this helps, but I push control while logging in. That is the only way I can get past the map screen.

After having issues ALL day yesterday, because whatever changes they made tweaked it so I could NOT log in the way we have been for the past 8 months, I only got in by downloading firefox AND having to delete part of the url so I could log in...see thread here:

(all that said, I was able to log in the "normal" way first thing this morning using IE and got my credits, was not on when everyone dc'd so idk if I can get back in that way or not now...)

I did use contact us and tell them of my issues, and of course I did say all the things I had already tried, but they send the generic list of things to try, at least they did respond (VMK_Stripes?) and I will share it here in case it might help you blue, but if you haven't already sent them a message plz do so because the more who have this issue maybe the quicker they will try to resolve it. This is the response:

of Shockwave installed on your computer, and that you have a good
connection to the internet. These are the two most common reasons for
problems in the game.

Below are some other things you can check to make sure your system is

ACTIVE X
In many work and school environments, Active X is disabled and you may
be locked out of the option to enable it. If so, we suggest trying the
game from home.

CACHE
Make sure your browser’s cache is cleared. This will ensure that
when you restart the game, the most recent information is displayed. This
will also force your browser to reload the entire screen, so it may
take a few minutes to get started again.

CUSTOM SECURITY LEVEL
If you are using a custom security level on your browser, make sure
that Active X controls are enabled in your Preferences menu.

POP UP BLOCKERS
If you currently have pop up blockers enabled on your browser, you may
have difficulty logging into VMK.

CYBERSITTER
If you are using Cybersitter to access VMK, you will need to allow
access to the following URLs for VMK to work:

Avmk.disney.go.com

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

for more information. If your computer does not meet the listed
requirements, you will experience difficulties with VMK.

MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER SECURITY POP UPS
This popular browser requires you to click “yes” to the statement
“This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to
display the nonsecure items?”

PORTS
Your computer must be permitted to make a connection to the VMK servers
using a special protocol required by Shockwave. If you are using a
personal firewall or are accessing the internet from a firewall-protected
office, it may block access to VMK. See the above list of addresses
which need to be accepted (under CYBERSITTER). For the game to
function, TCP ports 80, 30000-30004, 30061, and 30062 must also be open.

Though you may not receive another message from us regarding this
issue, please know that we are researching the cause of the problem and will
work hard to fix it.

And then, yes. I *will* "contact us" with what I had to do to get on. I'm sure every little bit of info helps them pinpoint where the problems are.

I have not been able to get in since before the new magic and shop arrived! I have missed the host quests and now I think I am going to cry because I am having POTC withdrawals. Glad to see that others are in the same boat as me! I am going to go check out how to get in thru firefox by deleting part of the url. I really hope that works.

Oh and the DIS boards are REALLLY slow for me too until a moment ago when they picked up in speed. for some reason.

Please let me know if anyone else has any suggestions for logging in!
Oh and I also contacted VMK about their somewhat HUGE problem with logging in and I mentioned that they should really make it up to us when everything is fixed! HEHE!

When I try to log in via Firefox, I get this screen. The area I circled is where you need to edit the address. Does this help?

well my vmk screen is not in a regular window, it is more like a mini window without a url bar or any toolbars for that matter

But it is ok, because I just tried firefox and it wanted me to upload the latest shockwave (weird because I have the latest due to othe rsites I play on). So I uploaded the new version and then was able to login. It is strange that IE is not telling me to do that though. Maybe that is the problem most everyone is having?
