VMK Birthday chair & Quest

i only came online yesterday for 5 min... big family crisis... i wish i had known about the chairs i would have bought as many as i could.. :( but i only barley skimmed dis and only got 60 points worth of daily credits then i got off. it was a crazy crazy busy day. I have a great friend though mickeysmagic gifted me 2 chairs, and sorcerdonald is kind enough to trade me the pin and 2 chairs.. you can see how my day was yesterday in my post looking to trade for the birthday pin and directors chairs :) i will say Happy (late) Birthday to VMK, and to any other people out there with birthdays this week!! :) hope you all have a good one!

I think the quest for the birthday pin was ridiculous! I thought the pin was supposed to be about celebrating VMK's first birthday, not who can play fireworks the best. There was no reason to make the quest difficult. Having to play all four mini-games (or five if you count the music game) was just wrong. The games (other than Ned) are already busy enough, there is no need to complicate things by adding them to yet another quest. Then to top it off, they made the quest available for only one day. I guess that's supposed to be part of our lessons on patience. :confused3

On the positive side, I think the trivia portion of the quest was great! It was perfect trivia for celebrating VMK's birthday. It was easy for me because I have been playing VMK since it opened. Newer players may have found it more challenging but at least they could find out the answers and learn a bit about the short history of the game they are playing. That seems to be reasonable, a bit of a reward for people who have been playing the game longer.

I guess I would have changed the quest to not include playing the mini-games. Trivia questions about the mini-games would have been allowed though. In place of playing mini-games and finding golden Mickeys, I would have added more trivia type tasks. That would include tasks like finding a room based on what you see in a photo, not just standard trivia questions. I would have made the quest purely a test of knowledge about VMK past and present. The quest would have more tasks to make it longer but not to discourage playing with mules. The longer quest would be to make it more thorough. I really don't give a rat's posterior about how many more mules would have earned pins. In my world, the pin would have been available to almost all of the players which in my not so humble opinion should have been the point of the quest.

For the record, I was able to complete the quest without much difficulty so I'm not griping about the quest from that angle.

As far as the mini-games go I think it's VMKs way of trying to reduce the amount of mules that get run through quests. I try to get some extras but when I have to play all the mini-games I don't get as many. I do agree that the scores could have been lower so everyone could get a pin.

280,000 is 4th level car magic for green car - level 3 skill is Yellow car and it only requires 100,000 in fire works but does require 45 ghosts. so the system isn't exact but it is the closest we can get to make the point - are you debating that it requires some skill to reach 170,000? If you are I would argue that most people that can get 170,000 make it to the final round and therefore are in reach of 240,000 if not in <<range>> as in within sight of, the altimate goal of 280K

Ah, sorry, forgot there were four. I was thinking the third was the last.

But yes, I am arguing that most people who practice can improve their skills enough eventually to regularly achieve 170,000. When I started I couldn't get past the first level for a long time. It took practice, but eventually I got better. I think some people do not practice to improve on these games consistently. One of the good lessons from these games is, provided you have a computer than can run them, is that practice pays off.

However, I have been within sight of 280,000 for a long time now and continually fall 10,000 points short, regardless of months of practice and trying. A nearly flawless game for me, but not the 1000 points per firework I need, thanks to needing a souped up optical, wired gaming mouse to really be able to get those last 10,000 points. That is just a different type of hard from reaching 170,000.
