VMK a Promotion?

I think VMK was dependent upon funding from other Disney business units; it was never given its own budget with the expectation that it would make money and pay for itself, but rather it was funded with the marketing budgets from Parks and Resorts and various divisions of Media Networks/Studio Entertainment toward the end. So whether it was successful or not in terms of players was not the issue…the issue was whether its sources of funding (Parks and Resorts/Media Networks) felt their advertising dollars were well spent supporting VMK. When those other business units decided they no longer wanted to spend their advertising dollars on VMK, VMK was left to dwindle. We're in an interesting time where businesses need to maximize productivity and also explore potentials in new technologies, so it was certainly an interesting experiment. Just my speculation.

That doesn’t mean that WDIG couldn’t have relaunched or rebanded VMK as a stand-alone game...had they desired that they could be...but it does support the idea that VMK was launched as a tool to drive business to Disney Parks and other media properties.

There's another thing Disney suddenly stopped...and to think all kids would be interested with Sports Illustrated for Kids as the replacement... :rotfl:

Makes you wonder what next Disney is going to end! Come to think of it I don't see that many disney movies coming out..or was it always this way? Probably this is good news for other companies and those kids will be reading stuff like Nickelodean magazine or National Geographic for kids or something.
