Vivoli il Gelato

Hi there! As we are doing a park-free trip, we will have a lot more time to spend at Disney Springs. I'm thinking about trying Vivoli il Gelato for dessert one day. Has anyone tried it? What is it like? I'm an ice cream connoisseur and really would only want it if it is something exceptional. For reference, I think Ample Hills is fantastic. Thank you for any info!

I too LOVE ice cream and consider myself a connoisseur. My husband and I were excited to try the gelato when we were there in October. Needless to say, we were not impressed. To us, it was more icy than creamy. Was not worth the money we spent. Unfortunately, I can't remember the flavors we tried. We won't get it again. We'd much rather have Ghirardelli.

That's saying a lot, since Ghirardelli uses Edy's ice cream (however, their sundaes make up for that with the toppings and cookies/brownies)!!! Wow. I'll stay away!

We've eat at il Gelato three times and never had an icy portion. Our gelato there has been good--not exceptional, but good. Certainly, I enjoyed it quite a bit more than any Edy's ice cream I've had. My primary complaint would be the value--you do get smallish portions for a hefty price. . .true Disney pricing. Otherwise, I say give it a shot.

I've been twice, once in the windy cold of Dec. and I sat there thoroughly enjoying my gelato, while my husband just shook his head. It was creamy and delicious and they had so many wonderful flavor choices.

DH actually shook his head at Ample Hills. I thought it was super yummy! I'm looking forward to trying Vivoli il Gelato next time I'm at DS. The menu says they have pistacchio gelato, which I love! I'm still disappointed they discontinued it at the BC Marketplace.

We loved Vivoli il Gelato the two times we ate there. I always get lemon sorbet and it was delicious.

We really liked what we had gotten from il Gelato when went. I mean it's nothing we'd purposely go out of our way for, but we're a bit biased with gelato though. Here in Philly we have 'Capogiro' and they've won best gelato in the world per National Geographic so we're spoiled lol.

Ample Hills was a huge disappointment. The ice cream has way too much "stuff" in it. I was chewing the whole time and it was sickly sweet. My mom LOVES the gelato place but I thought it was awful. Had the consistency of ice cream that melts and refreezes.

The best ice cream at WDW is still in the France pavilion. L'artisan des Glaces. It's the only place I will go out of my way for in the future.

I went there last week, I wanted to try some gelato "affagato" style which I've never seen before. Basically they scooped the gelato into a tall glass, poured some espresso over it, scooped more gelato & topped with more espresso.

It had a neat "hot & cold" feeling to it at first but then quickly melted into basically a very creamy coffee drink. Which is one of my favourite indulgences aha.

I really liked it & wanted to have it again! But we never ended up back at Disney Springs. Also in case you're wondering, I got to choose the type of gelato, I chose cheesecake.

My mum got some type of fruit sorbet which she really liked but I didn't aha, not my thing.
