Has anyone ever had Vitamin B12 injections?

I have to start getting them on friday and I have no needle phobia at all (I've had hundreds of IVs, blood draws, etc) but I have heard that these HURT.

Are they more painful than the flu shot or the pneumococal vaccine?

The ones I get are a normal shot. I feel a little tenderness but that is about it. But I love it lots of energy. What are you hearing about them? Just think about the energy youll have. Jo

I used to give them to myself. It only hurts if you administer it wrong..lol

The more you practice the better it gets, one of the suggestions of the nurses at my work is to practice on an orange or when injecting into your thigh to lightly squeeze the area but don't over squeeze it because that would make it hurt!

After a while it became easier to do. I had never gotten pain from the actual injection and it was much more effective than the nasal b12 that some docs are prescribing.

Good luck to you and just be gentle!

I have just heard that they are very deep injections.

I just found out that I have a severe B12 defiency so I have to get 4 injections in the office over the next 2 weeks and than I find out how often I have to do them at home.

I'm fine with needles...until the thought of giving them to myself...not so simple..lol

They're not bad. I don't like needles and I was able to inject myself with B12 over a few months time. In fact, I think I may get some more from my doctor as I've been feeling run down.

I get B12 injections every month. The needle is tiny and it doesnt hurt...just a tiny sting. I also have to get these 2 other shots with a giant needle (in my hips) where the substance can sometime clog the needle so they have to change the needle and do it again. So maybe that's why I think the B12 is so easy! :lmao:

yeah you'd think after a bunch of ultrasound guided IVs and central lines i'd laugh at the thought of these injections.

I had no problem with them until I was told that I would have to learn how to give them to myself...that's something new and something I was hoping to NEVER have to do.

That's going to be fun when I go off to school next year....15 daily pills + 1 injection...i was kind of hoping to decrease meds...not increase them

and I was told that my deficiency is so bad that they are not sure how long I will have to stay on these...they don't know if it's temporary because of other meds messing with nutrition absorption or if it's permanant:scared1:
