I'm thinking these two properties are similar in price, size and distance to Disney. Am I right? If so... does anyone have a preference for one over the other?
Thanks.

Not sure if you are talking about Vistana Villas or Vistana Villages? However, we have stayed at Cypress Pointe and Vistana Villas before (but not Vistana Village). Villas is older but is my personal favorite resort. Many acvities day and night for both adults and kids. Lots of pools to choose from (9). Mature grounds with lovely trees, steams, fountains, ducks, birds etc. Cypress Pointe is smaller 3 pools between the Grand Villas II and Cypress Pointe. Very few activities. Is a nice resort but quieter and not the scenic walking areas that Vistana has. Really depends on what you want. My choice is Vistana for reasons given above. My Grandkids didn't even want to go back to Disney when staying with us despite having more days on tickets.

We love the Shearaton Vistana that is just minutes from DTD. The Villages is on I-Drive I believe and I've heard mixed things about that. For all the reasons the previous poster listed, I agree. We've always had a good experience at the Vistana Villas.

Vistana Resort on SR 535 is probably a little further away from Disney property than Cypress Pointe, but not by much. Both of these resort are nice. Vistana is a very large resort with several different phases - meaning that they were built at various times and have different owners' groups directing timing and quallity of villa upgrades and refurbishment. Some of the phases at Vistana are kind of old and worn while others are in topnotch shape. It seems to me that the Cypress Harbour units (I'm only familiar with two-bedroom units at both of these resorts) are a little bigger than those I've stayed in at Vistana, but that could be faulty memory on my part. As previously mentioned, Vistana is very family-oriented with lots and lots of activities throughout the resort. Cypress Pointe is a nice resort but certainly doesn't have either the resort size or all of the amenities and activities that Vistana has.
I like both of these but would probably prefer Cyrpress Pointe if the two were my only choices but that's based on our current family make-up and preferences.

If you're still interested in the Vistana (not the Vistana Villages), check with their reservation agent to see which if any of the available units have been renovated. I believe either Lakes or Fountains has been renovated within the past few months. Springs will be renovated in the first half of 2009.

The pics shown to owners look really nice with complete replacement of the bathrooms, new kitchen cabinets & counter tops, tile replacing all carpet, new furniture throughout, flat panel TVs in the living room and master bedroom, etc.
