We just returned from a wonderful vacation. We spent 8 days at Vistana Villages. I will post my trip report on the trip board, but I thought I would address some issues with Vistana Villages here.It really is a nice resort, in fact we now own a timeshare there, although we can trade through RCI and go anywhere we want.Pool towels- they have plenty outside by the pool, you do not need to bring any towels at all from home. Their pool towels are huge, teal and white striped. You do not have to return them anywhere, just leave them at the pool, or bring them back to your room .It was busy a few days, and they never ran out.they have pool activities for the kids everday, most are free. they sell and rent rafts at the pool, and blow them up for you too. there is a girl who braids hair at the pool and another person who gives massages, for a fee. They have a very nice pool bar and deli. Frozen drinks are $7 kids meals are less than $5. The staff is very helpful and plenty of pool help picking up the dirty towels, ect.. It reminded me of a club med resort. They have 2 pools and 2 big hot tubs, all outdoor.
All of this was very nice... I did have a few issues with Vistana. One was I requested not to be on the first floor overlooking the lake (it is small) I did not want to be in building 9 or 10. Well I was put in building 9 on the first floor overlooking the lake.I really really hate snakes. I did not want to have to walk to the pools by way of the nice path around the lake, because of this. Well, on the second night, I was walking with my kids back from the hot tub and guess what I saw, right on the sidewalk? a SNAKE!!!! it was not real big, but I screamed, and from that point on I drove my car to the pool. Not a big deal, but it would have been nicer not to have seen the snake. I did tell them at the front desk, and they said "well, this is Florida" they also said they do not get many people complaining of seeing snakes.
They do seem to have a lack of communication somewhere between the reservationists and the person who actually blocks the rooms. It is a very nice place though, and I am glad that I went.It is on a very quiet end of International Drive, no havy traffic at all. We were only 10-15 minutes away from all the Disney Parks and Universal studios. We also went to Sea World, about 5 minutes away.I would be happy to answer any specific questions about this resort, if anyone needs to know anything!
