Vistana too big a risk?

Hi all,

We are thinking about trying the Vistana resort in March 05, but I'm worried that we will get stuck in the older section, which, judging from reviews on trip advisor and other places, sounds just awful. We would want a 2 bed with lockoff (guess there are no 3 beds?). On this trip, we are planning to spend more down time at our resort.

Anyone have a truly great vacation in the older section?

thanks!

ps. It's great to be back to the DIS boards planning our next trip!

We hear from friends who have purchased timeshares at the Vistana say the resort is beautiful and so are the rooms.

I never stayed at the Vistana, but last year we stayed at the Liki Tiki (timeshare resort too). We called the resort itself, right after we confirmed our ressies, and asked if we could be placed in a more new apartment away from the pools (because we don't like the noise in the mornings). They accomadated us when we got there (three months later), so most likely they put a note in our ressie to remind them of what we wanted. I'm sure they will try to put you were you desire to be.

We've been in just about every section of Vistana and never had a "terrible" accomodation---I sometimes wonder what prompts the bad comments....and some of the older units are more convenient to the better pools, etc. The worst we ever encountered is frayed edges on older carpeting, but they weren't a big deal----the furniture was no worse than we have at home!!
Considering the extra room and convenient location, I don't think you can go wrong:smooth:
