Visits to DLP in October and Halloween

Hi there,

I wondered if anyone could share some of their experiences on visits to DLP in October and Halloween and help with a couple of questions I have...

I'm booking our sixth visit to our favourite place in the world tomorrow (after weeks of dithering) and my dilemma is whether to visit early in October or to take in the Halloween party.

My inclination is to book for earlier in October to take advantage of it being a little cheaper and quieter in the parks, but I know my 3 girls would love to go to a party on Halloween, so...

1 - is the week leading up to Halloween (and Halloween night itself) exceptionally busier compared to earlier in October?

2 - are the Halloween parties in Disneyland Park & Walt Disney Studio's really scary?
Our 7 year old can be a little jumpy on Halloween, so I'd hate for her to be too scared to enjoy it.

I've been hovering around making this booking for a few weeks now, so I'd really appreciate input from anyone who has visited at this time of year (so far our visits have all been in winter).

Thanks
Steve

hi i havent been in october but have booked mon-fri end october including the halloween party. i expect it will be really busy as it is school holidays. our girls are 6 & 3, my little one has autism and wont take notice, ive explained to my eldest halloween is a celebration and not to be scared as its all for fun. good luck in deciding & hope you and your family have a magical trip :)

Thw WDS Halloween Party is age restricted. No children allowed and it IS scary!

You could always book a Not So Scary party that happen throughout October and they are gentler for younger ones. The main party on Halloween itself is heavier and lots of villians are out, but I dont think its actually scary :-) Saying that though, I'm going for the first time this year to the main event in the park and looking forward to it!

And expect it to be bustingly buzy - reports from last year talk of elbow busting moves and high crowds in the event!

My son's birthday is on Halloween, so we took him for his 12th birthday the year before last. It was unbearably busy and got worse the closer to the 31st it got. I think it was a case of one in one out later in the day. That was just normal park hours, we've never been to any of the parties so I can't comment on those. Halloween day was very busy though, too busy for us. Obviously that would've been due to the people arriving for the party as well as the day guests. It put me off going around his birthday again.

We've been a couple of times in early October and the weather was nice and the crowds were low, but the park was decorated for Halloween. Perfect :)

We went last October (just finished the TR if you want to have a look - will post a link later as Im just on my phone.) We went midweek and the crowd level was low and the decorations & getting to meet all the villains was such a bonus :)
Going back this October but earlier again (7th - 11th) and we are very excited :D
Happy planning

Thanks for the replies everyone - its really helped me to decide that a visit in early October is going to be better for us.

Keeping the cost down is always great, but it sounds like the crowds on the run up to Halloween and on the 31st itself would be too busy for us!

Taking a small tribe with us makes it difficult to cope with crowds at times & trying to make sure that everyone stays close together can be a nightmare.

I did call DLP and ask about dates for the Not So Scary Halloween party, but they don't do them any more :(

Thanks again everyone!
Steve
