We will be @ SSR in Oct. and we have friends staying @ CBR will they be allowed to use the pool @ SSR with us and visit back and forth with each other.

Generally, the resort pools are for the enjoyment of the guests actually staying at that resort. There is no "pool hopping" priviledge for WDW guests - unless the guest is a DVC member who booked a stay at a DVC resort via MS.

DVC members (who booked a stay at a DVC resort via MS) are allowed to use the pools at other resorts (except for those at BC/YC/BCV & the AKL). Some dates are blacked out, and members may be asked to leave if the pools reach capacity.

So you and your family would be allowed to use the pool at CBR for sure - subject to the other pool hopping "rules". Those are posted on the DVC Members' website.

Technically, your friends would not be allowed to use the SSR pools, However, if I were in that situation, I would ask the SSR front desk personnel for perrmission. If they say it is OK, you'd be all set. FWIW, I think they will say OK since October isn't crazy busy for the pools.

Best wishes -

CarolMN is right about the rules. We were staying at BCV this aug. and can you believe the kids wanted to pool hop... :rotfl: we started at the cor, then, cr, cont, bw and back to bc. we had no problem, just checked in with the front desk showed them our dvc card and was given a map for cr & cor were the pool was located. :thumbsup2

Frankly, if all you want to do is use each other's pools... you have room keys that get you into both so nobody is going to even question your entering.

Actually, that's bad advice in general, since at some pools they often actively check to ensure every guest, including children, have a corresponding room key for that specific resort.

It's always best to ask the front desk and the lifeguard, and be prepared to comply with whatever direction they give you, yes or no.

Ok, I agree it may be bad advice and I apologize, but in 8 years I have NEVER once been or have EVER seen anyone stopped and required to show a room key for everyone in their group (that would be rediculous). I can't imagine that lifeguards would actually man the gate and require anyone in my group to go back to our room and retrieve their room key as evidence of their right to be there. Maybe I didn't get a room key for my children... then what? I was simply trying to say that there isn't going to be any problems in their situation. Pool hopping to a resort neither party was staying at would be a different issue. That being said... One should always go to the front desk and explain their situation to avoid any possible problems. Better to be safe than sorry.

if your at SSR in a studio with just 2 people and your friends are just 2 people then they can come to SSR. You are allow 4 keys for the studio and 1 bedroom and 8 keys for the 2 bedroom. So if your at or under the occupancy numbers you are OK

Don't just have them show up and then the Guards check for keys. That would be embarrassing to you and them.

We have had no problem with our friends visiting us granted it is a slow time.......
Just tell the front desk...........

I would check with the front desk and ask if they, as your guests, may use the pool with you.
I'm thinking that you may not have a problem with this because it is October and not usually a high volume pool time.
Also, when I look back at my stay at the WL/VWL this past June with all the FW campers getting off the bus and the boats...armed with towels to use the pool at the lodge...my answer would be, "Have a great time with your friends!" :stir:

As far as I know, WDW does not have a formal guest policy to cover this issue. Some have been told it's OK and others not. If one is under the occupancy, you can certainly add the other party to your room and get keys for them. Else, one can check with the front desk manager to ask "permission". You can visit their pool if pool hopping is open during the time your there AND the pool is not at capacity, just follow the procedures to do so.

The only problem now with adding people to the room so that they can get a room ID to use the pool is the Dining Plan. If you have it, you will have to get it for them as well. Could be a costly swim.
